  • Edinson Cavani’s contract is up at Paris Saint-Germain
  • The French club is expected to offer the Uruguayan World Cup star a new contract
  • Will it be enough to keep him from making a move in Europe or perhaps to the MLS?

Edinson Cavani is the latest Paris Saint-Germain player to be linked to transfer talk.

Neymar is supposed to be moving. There’s rumors of Kylian Mbappe seeking to join Real Madrid.

All of these developments beg a question – will PSG have any players left by the August 9th conclusion of the summer transfer window?

If so, sportsbooks don’t believe Cavani will be one of them. They have put out a prop wager on his future club following the August 9th deadline, and PSG is not among the betting options.

The Uruguayan international joined PSG from Napoli in 2013. He scored 23 goals in 33 matches last season.

PSG Seeks to Keep Cavani

PSG  is anxious to keep Cavani in the fold, albeit on a short-term contract.

Leonardo – the 1994 Brazilian World Cup winner, not the Ninja Turtle – is set to return to PSG and take over as Sporting Director. He was the one who originally signed Cavani for the club in 2013.

Reportedly, PSG will offer the 32-year-old Uruguayan World Cup player a one-year extension to his current deal. That pact is set to expire in 2020.

Back to Italy?

Napoli is the side that sold Cavani to PSG six years ago. They’re also interested in his services.

The Uruguayan striker played at Napoli from 2010-13 and scored 104 goals in 138 appearances.

At Least It’s Not Real Madrid

Is Cavani the only soccer star in Europe the transfer market is not linking to Real Madrid? The speculators suggest the Spanish giants are going to sign about 147 players this summer.

What’s even harder to believe is that PSG isn’t a betting option. Cavani is currently playing for his country at Copa America. If he wants be remain in international consideration, a move to China or the MLS makes no sense.

A Napoli transfer is stepping down in stature. However, PSG is still a major contender in Europe.

Forget these odds. Cavani will stay in Paris.
