Andrey Rublev and Stefanos Tsitsipas are among three of the world’s top-10 players still in the hunt for the title as the Miami Open reaches the quarterfinal stage. Tsitsipas (#5) and Rublev (#8) are joined by world #2 Daniil Medvedev in the last eight of this ATP Masters 1000 event.
Tsitsipas and Rublev are both slated to be in quarterfinal action on Thursday, April 1st. The #2 seed, Tsitsipas is an overwhelming -455 favorite to dispatch 26th-seeded Hubert Hurkacz. Meanwhile, #4 seed Rublev is the solid -400 chalk to take out unseeded Sebastian Korda.
Start times for these matches are at 1:00 pm and 7:00 pm EDT at the Hard Rock Stadium. The Tennis Channel will be carrying the broadcast.

Lucky Seven for Tsitsipas?
Beating 24th-seeded Lorenzo Sonego 6-2, 7-6(2) in the round of 16, Tsitsipas is through to the quarterfinal stage for the seventh time at an ATP Masters 100 event. He’s still in search of his inaugural victory in one of these tournaments, however.
Getting to this point in yet another event is offering an indication of just how consistently Tsitsipas is performing this season. He’s played in five events and reached the quarterfinals in all five tournaments. The 22-year-old Greek was runner-up last week in Acapulco. He also reached the semifinals of the Australian Open.
Tsitsipas made short work of Italy’s Sonego. He never faced a breakpoint during the 91-minute match, firing 20 winners.
Poland’s Hurkacz was forced to battle tooth and nail to overcome Canada’s Milos Raonic 4-6, 6-3, 7-6(4) in their round of 16 match, which lasted two hours and 20 minutes. Hurkacz took advantage of 50 unforced errors by former world #3 Raonic.
Surprisingly, he also won the ace battle with the powerful-serving Canadian by a 14-12 count. In his past two matches, Hurkacz has ousted the #6 seed (Denis Shapovalov) and #12 seed (Raonic).

Hurkacz is through to the quarterfinals in a Masters 1000 event for the second time in his career. He also got this far at Indian Wells in 2019. The Pole already shows a tournament win in Florida this year. He took the title in a 250 event at Delray Beach.
How It Should Go
In head-to-head meetings, Tsitsipas is holding a decisive 6-1 advantage over world #37 Hurkacz. On outdoor hard-court surfaces like the Miami Open, Tsitsipas owns a 2-1 edge. However, Hurkacz recorded his lone triumph over the Greek in a Masters 1000 event, the 2019 Rogers Cup.

Tsitsipas has proven so dominant at the Miami Open it’s difficult to fathom him not winning this match. Only Kei Nishikori in the round of 32 forced him to a third set. Nishikori is also the only player to win break points off Tsitsipas. Meanwhile, Tsitsipas has recorded 23 breakpoints on opposition serves.
Hurkacz needed to win third-set tiebreakers to get past both Raonic and Shapovalov.

Rublev Keeps Rolling at Miami Open
Rublev still hasn’t dropped a set in Miami. The Russian sent veteran and former world #3 Marin Cilic packing 6-4, 6-4 in the round of 16.

American Korda reached the quarterfinals by posting his first career victory over a top-10 player. Ranked #87 in the ATP, he beat world #9 Diego Schwartzman 6-3, 4-6, 7-5.

Rublev is through to the quarterfinals of an ATP 1000 event for the second time. He’s never reached the semifinals. It’s a career first for Korda.
How It Should Go
There’s no player in tennis who’s hotter than Rublev. His 19-3 record in 2021 leads all ATP players. Rublev helped Russia win the ATP Cup. Individually, he earned the title in Rotterdam and reached the quarterfinals of the Australian Open.

Korda, 20, is also enjoying a personal high. He reached the final at Delray Beach. Clearly, Rublev is currently on a different plateau than him at this respective moment in their career paths, however.
Expect Korda to give a good account of himself. Rublev’s superior talent and experience will win the day, though.
