It’s down to the final eight in Germany, and eighth seed Benoit Paire will take on Federico Delbonis in one of the four quarterfinal matches. The two are set to take the court at 12pm ET.

Despite being the unseeded player in this match, Delbonis will enter as the heavy favorite over Paire. After losing the second set in his first round match, Delbonis followed it up with a straight set victory over fourth seed Albert Ramos-Vinolas to earn his spot in the quarters. Paire is also coming off a straight set win over Juan Pablo Varillas, which earned him his spot in the final eight.

Continue below for a breakdown how each player made it to this point in the tournament and where the best bet is.

Paire’s 2021 Struggle

The Frenchman has had less than an ideal first half to 2021, having only won two matches heading into the Hamburg Open.

The 32-year old started his tournament with a walkover win, when his opponent, Ricardas Berankis withdrew after 6-6 in the first set. He then went on to beat Pablo Varillas in the Round of 16, winning 7-5, 7(10)-6(8). On route to the win, Paire landed 89 percent of his first serves, and converted 66 percent of his landed first serves into a point.

He’ll now to look to take on Delbonis in the quarterfinals.

The Favorite

Delbonis heads into this quarterfinal match as the favorite to win and move on in the tournament. He’s having a much better year than Parie is, having recorded 19 wins heading into this tournament.

He had a slight hiccup in his first round match, where he dropped the second set, which led to a decider. But he managed to finish strong, and win 6-1, 7-5, 6-4, defeating Zhang Zhizhen. He’s now heading into the quarterfinals, coming off a big upset over Ramos-Vinolas. The Argentinian landed 90 percent of his first serves on route to his 6-3, 7(7)-6(4) win.

Head-to-Head

These two players have never faced each other before, so we don’t have much to go off there. Paire unfortunately has not had the best run in 2021, heading into this tournament with a 2/17 record.

Delbonis on the other hand had a winning record heading into this tournament, sitting at 19/13. Neither player has been able to capture a title in 2021, and will look to continue their road to one here in Germany.

Best Bet

It looks like Delbonis might have the slight edge here. He’s had a better overall season, and he’s been playing well in Germany this year.

I think it’s possible that Paire takes a set, making the match go the distance. Neither player has had standout performances, so it’s a tough match to call. But they’re both coming off strong showings in the Round of 16 that included tiebreaks, which leads me to believe that they’ll provide a challenge to each other. Regardless of the winner, look for the match to go three sets.

Best Bet: Ov 2.5 sets (+145)
