Sakkari enters the match as the favorite to move onto the finals, but Raducanu has yet to drop a set on route to the semi’s. The 18-year old has been playing the best tennis of her career.

Raducanu’s Perfect Run
The British teen made headlines a little earlier this year at Wimbledon, where she reached the fourth round in her debut at the tournament. But she is really making a name for herself with her run at the US Open. She has yet to drop a set in her eight matches played, which includes the qualifying rounds. With her quarterfinal win, she became the first qualifier to reach the US Open semi’s in the Open Era.

She went on to defeat Olympic gold medalist, Belinda Bencic 6-3, 6-4 to earn a spot in the final four of a Grand Slam in only her second career appearance. In just under an hour and a half, Raducanu just stunned Bencic. She recorded 23 winners to 12 unforced errors, and converted three of six breakpoints.
Raducanu now joins some great company as she becomes the third woman ranked outside the Top 100 to reach the semifinals of the US Open. The other two players she joins, are unranked Kim Clijsters in 2009, and the one and only Billie Jean King, who was unranked when she made the semi’s in 1979.
Sakkari’s Looks Towards First Major Final
The 26-year old recorded her third straight win over a Top 10 seed when she defeated Karolina Pliskova 6-4, 6-4 on Wednesday to advance to her second Grand Slam semifinal of 2021.
Sakkari’s serve was working really well against Pliskova. The Greek only lost two points on her first serve over the entire match, and only eight points on serve in total. In the first set, and early in the second Sakkari won 22 straight service points.

Her serve is a big part of what won her this quarterfinal match.
On route to the semifinals, Sakkari herself has only dropped one set. She lost the first set to Bianca Andreescu in their Round of 16 meeting. She has upset higher seeded opponents in her three previous matches, defeated Petra Kvitova, Andreescu, and Pliskova.

Best Bet
The competition is as tough as it gets now. Both of these women are playing incredible tennis, and both have the opportunity to win.
These two have a similar style of play in the sense that they like to be on the attack. Both enjoy setting the pace, and controlling the match, so that will be interesting to see who’s able to strike first.
Both will be reliant on their serve to get them through. As mentioned earlier, Sakkari’s serve brought her to another level in her match against Pliskova. Raducanu herself, recorded six aces to just two double faults, and was only broken once against Bencic.
Raducanu seems to just be playing on another level, and riding a different wave than the rest of the tournament. She really has nothing to lose here, and she’s able to continue playing the way she has over the past two weeks, it looks like she’ll end up in the finals.
A less risky move would be that regardless of the winner here, the match will most likely go the distance.
