Unsurprisingly, Swiatek is the favorite heading into the match.

Swiatek Continues to Dominate

The 21-year old entered the Ostrava Open after taking a break. Swiatek hadn’t competed in a tournament since winning the US Open at the beginning of September.

But the World No. 1 came into the tournament and looked like the same Swiatek we all know. After her opponent retired in the second set in her first match, she quietly took care of former junior doubles partner Caty McNally, and most recently Ekaterina Alexandrova.

Alexandrova gave her the most trouble she’s seen so far this week. In the opening set the two were fairly evenly match, as the set went to a tiebreak, but she managed to come out on top. It was the second set that Alexandrova managed to capture  to decide a third set.

Swiatek went onto win 7(7)-6(5), 2-6, 6-4 to capture her 60th win of 2022, and earn a spot in her eighth final of the season.

Krejcikova Looking for Consecutive Titles

The 26-year old blew through her first couple opponents, including a walkover in the round of 16, but saw herself down a set against her semifinal opponent Elena Rybakina.

She managed to piece together a comeback to defeat Rybakina 3-6, 7(7)-6(4). 6-4.

The first set was much more back and forth than the score leads to believe. The two traded breaks of serve at the end, but it Rybakina that sealed the deal. In the second, neither Krejcikova or Rybakina were able to break serve, and the set went to a tiebreaker.

When the deciding set came around, Krejcikova managed to continue to set the tone, and eventually win it 6-4.  She’ll now compete in her third singles final of the season, and will look for her second title in a row.

Swiatek Leads Head-to-Head

Both of Swiatek and Krejcikova’s previous matches happened in 2021 in both Miami and Rome. In both instances Swiatek was the seeded player and defeated Krejcikova. Once in straight sets and once in three.

Swiatek vs Krejcikova Prediction

Once again, it’s hard to think about betting against Swiatek at this point, but Krejcikova will have the home crowd behind her. The Czech won the Tallinn Open last week, and is riding an eight-match win streak.

But despite all that, Swiatek is still No. 1 in the world and is constantly showing us why she’s the best on tour at the moment. Krejcikova will give her trouble at times, don’t be surprised if she takes a set off Swiatek. But look for the 21-year old to hoist the trophy at the end of the match.

Best Bet: Over 2.5 sets (+150)
