Th Seattle Seahawks (4-4) are in a tough spot in Week 10, travelling to the City of Angels to face the Los Angeles Rams (8-1) as 10-point underdogs at Memorial Coliseum (Sunday, November 11, 2018 at 4:25pm ET).
Seattle brings the 5th-ranked defense to LA, but their defensive success is largely a result of their ability to create turnovers. The Seahawks have generated 15 turnovers this season (6th), 10 of which were interceptions. They were only able to get one turnover against the Chargers last week and wound up losing at home, 25-17.
The pressure being applied by Frank Clark (7.5 sacks) and company has been the catalyst in creating many of these turnovers.
The Seahawks’ talent for taking the ball away has led them only allowing 19.5 points per game (5th) and 333.3 YPG (7th).
The Rams 10th-ranked defense has been almost as good at creating turnovers with 14 takeaways of its own. It’s been mediocre in terms of yardage, though, surrendering 105.3 yards per game on the ground (13th) and 243.3 through the air (14th). New Orleans roasted them last week for 487 total yards and 45 points.
In reality, this Rams team has taken a stranglehold in the NFC West thanks to its offense, which ranks first in yards (447.1 YPG) and third in scoring (33.2 PPG). It’s vastly outperforming Seattle in both of those departments, with the Seahawks sitting 26th in yards per game (339.9) and 17th in points (23.5 PPG).
When these teams tangled in Week 5, Los Angeles held on to defeat Seattle, 33-31. But the Seahawks covered as 7.5-point home underdogs in that game.
