- We’re looking at four games in this weekend’s Divisional round of the NFL Playoffs
- The smartest thing we can do at this point is find one long shot from each game
- See below to find my best Divisional Round Longshot Picks for Jan 17 & 18
I don’t want to sound like a downer, but this weekend is the last time football will be on two different days. That’s right, we’ve got Saturday and Sunday for the last time this season. There’s only one thing any rational human being should do in a situation like this. That’s right, take one wild longshot bet from each game. It’s the only thing we have left. Our hands are tied.
I know what you’re thinking, “Slop, what if we lose?” You’re asking the wrong question. Better question, what if we win? Do you think those kids were thinking about losing when they stormed Normandy? Of course not. That seemed to work out for most of them.
The thing is, we just had Woody Marks 100+ rushing yards last weekend at +870. People are still talking about it. I don’t know if we’re working with that kind of magic this week but we’d be crazy not to try. Here are my favorite longshots from each NFL Divisional Game this weekend. Feels right.
(And for those asking, yes, we can parlay these if we want. $100 wins $100K.)

Longshot Pick #1 – Dalton Kincaid Could Get Loose for the People
The first game of the weekend is between the Buffalo Bills and the Denver Broncos. It’s going to be a tough one, so we need to dig deep. We need a guy we can trust because winning the first longshot of the weekend could get us into the Gambling Hall of Fame.
I’m thinking we can trust a guy that Josh Allen trusts. It makes sense when you think about it. (Even if we don’t think about it, it still makes sense.)
Here’s the thing: we had this guy last week. Classic “week too early” situation. The Bills’ receivers are dropping like flies. They lost Gabe Davis and Tyrell Shavers. That’s in addition to Josh Palmer already being on the shelf. They simply don’t have receivers they can throw the ball to at this point.
The good news is, they’ve got a tight end in Dalton Kincaid who is capable of stepping up in a situation like this. He’s already dropped two 100-yard bombs this season, and now he gets a Denver defense that allowed over 1000 receiving yards to the tight end position this season. Seventy-plus feels like a great way to introduce ourselves to the books this weekend.
- Dalton Kincaid 70+ Receiving Yards (+450) at FanDuel
Longshot Pick #2 – Christian McCaffrey Will Have To Show Out
We’re moving on to Saturday Night, which means we have to lock in. We can’t afford to put a move out on some rando. This is Saturday night we’re talking about here. Saturday nights are all about slaying the books and anything else that comes our way. Deal with the repercussions later.
Lucky for us, Christian McCaffrey plays on Saturday Night.
Some people get scared when they see the 2+ Touchdown market. Not us. Not ever. I look at it like this: if a guy can score once, he can score twice. It’s only one extra time. That’s not that many. Plus, when we start looking at prices, it’s hard not to take someone to score 2+ touchdowns.
McCaffrey is the perfect guy to trust with a 2+ touchdown wager. For one, he’s done it twice in the last four games. He just did it last week, for Christ’s sake. I get that he didn’t score on Seattle in either matchup this season, but the 49ers are down to basically just him. With the season on the line, I’m thinking just give it to Christian. Feels right.
- Christian McCaffrey 2+ Touchdowns (+500) at FanDuel
Longshot Pick #3 – TreVeyon Henderson Is Sneaky
We’ve got a weird start time on Sunday, but we can’t let that distract us. I’m guessing they’re just fluffing us up for Championship Sunday, so it’s fine with me. If we’re being honest, I don’t mind waiting until 3 pm ET for the first game. It makes it feel more important. Plus, it gives us more time to sneak up on the books with a guy they’ll never see coming. A guy like TryVeyon Henderson.
People are saying Henderson is just as good as Jahmyr Gibbs, so maybe we should look at him. (I didn’t say it, but other people did.)
I know what you’re thinking, “Slop, the Patriots hate TreVeyon Henderson. They only have eyes for Rhamondre Stevenson.” Trust me, I know, but we needed a real longshot. The thing is, Henderson has done this three times this season. He also went for 24 receiving yards one time, too. It’s not like he can’t catch.
The angle here is the fact that it’s very difficult to move the ball against the Houston Texans’ defense. Their pass rush is ridiculous, so quick throws might be what we see the Patriots try when they have the ball. Houston allowed 541 receiving yards to opposing running backs this season, so they can be had in this area. We just saw Kenneth Gainwell hit this number against them last week. Why not TryVeyon? Feels easy.
- TreVeyon Henderson 25+ Receiving Yards (+520) at FanDuel
Longshot Pick #4 – Kyle Monangai Isn’t Some BS Guy
This is it. The last game of the weekend. Our final opportunity to hit the books right in the gonads with a giant plus-money banger. We simply can’t mess this up. All we need to do is focus and zig while they think we’re going to zag. A running back in the receiving game feels perfect in this situation.
I’m thinking that running back is none other than Kyle Monangai.
It’s going to be cold in Chicago on Sunday. We’re talking about cold, cold. Like “we wouldn’t even go to the game if someone gave us tickets,” cold. I don’t know how much the cold will affect the players, but I’m guessing the pass game takes a bit of a hit. Not that they won’t be able to throw, it will just be shorter stuff for the most part.
The thing is, the Bears already use their running backs in the pass game. Over the last four games, Monangai was targeted at least three times in three of those games. He caught three passes in two of those games. Now he gets a Rams defense that allowed more receptions to the running back position than all but six other teams. Kyle could easily cap the weekend off with a bang for us. Feels easy.
- Kyle Monangai 3+ Receptions (+473) at DraftKings
