Betting on College Football
Not All Football is the Same
Betting on college football is a lot like betting on the NFL, but there are key differences. The biggest variation comes in the spreads, as NCAA games often feature much bigger spreads than the NFL, routinely in the 20 to 30-point range. It’s rare to see an NFL spread bigger than a couple touchdowns. When you are dealing with such big numbers, new considerations arise, like will the coach keep his foot on the gas or will he rest his starters once he has a big lead.
A Lot of Teams = A Little More Value
When you bet on the NFL, it’s very hard to have an informational advantage on sportsbooks. But with nearly 130 FBS teams in college football, finding an edge is a little easier. If you dig deep into the stats and analytics of smaller schools and track their play on a weekly basis, you may wind up with a better understanding of that team’s true strength than those who make the lines. But you have to put in the time to reap the rewards.
