There are a few metrics listed on this page to help you make the right bet on the odds for today’s NBA games:

Bet %

The bet % metric shows you what percentage of the total betting volume falls on either side of the betting line. In other words, it allows you to see which side of the line is taking more action in terms of total number of wagers placed. This is the easiest way to see which side is favored by the public.

How to Read NBA Odds

If you’re new to sports betting, you may be wondering how to read the moneyline, point spread, and over/under NBA betting odds found on this page.

Our guide to reading sports betting odds provides a full rundown of the odds for each basketball wagering type and how oddsmakers formulate them, but here are the basics.

NBA Moneyline Odds

When betting the basketball moneyline, you’re simply picking one team to win the game outright. Select “moneyline” in the feed preferences above and have a look at the odds on each of the NBA lines and odds.

The positive number is the odds for the underdog. This is the amount you stand to profit if you place a $100 bet on the underdog.

The negative number is the odds for the favorite. This is the amount you’ll need to risk in order to return a $100 profit backing the favorite.

In rare cases with extremely close matchups, both teams have negative NBA odds. In this case, the side with the larger negative number is the favorite.

NBA Point Spread Odds

Betting on NBA spreads odds allows you to back either side even in situations where the sides aren’t closely matched. Select “spread” to see the odds for this week’s NBA spreads.

When betting the spread, the favorite “gives” points while the underdog “gets” points added to their final score. The number of points given/taken is the spread – you’ll see this number displayed next to a (+) for the underdog (since they are getting extra points) and a (-) for the favorite (since points are being subtracted.

To cover the spread, the favorite must win the game by the margin of the point spread. The underdog covers anytime they win the game outright or lose by less than the margin outlined by the spread.

Next to the point spread, you’ll find odds like those you’d see on the moneyline. These will generally be in the range of -105 to -115 for most NBA point spreads, indicating the amount you need to risk to win $100.

NBA Over/Under (Totals) Odds

Betting NBA totals allows you to get in on the action without backing a specific team. Commonly known as the over/under, totals betting asks you to wager on whether the final score with be over or under the total set by the oddsmakers.

Compare NBA over/unders by selecting “total” in preferences. You’ll see a large number with both (o) & (u) – this is the total. Bet on the final score to be over or under this number.

Like the point spread, you’ll see odds associated with taking the over or under. With some exceptions, expect to see these odds in the range of -105 to -115 when betting basketball totals.

NBA Futures – Bet on the NBA Championship & More

NBA futures odds allow you to bet on major events throughout the NBA season far in advance. These bets focus on the biggest achievements each year.

For instance, you can pick the Eastern Conference or Western Conference Champion, back teams to make a playoff berth, or even pick the winner of the NBA Finals.

Player futures ask you to predict the winner of awards such as the NBA Rookie of the Year award.

Successfully betting these basketball futures is all about timing. Payouts tend to be biggest the earlier you jump into the action, but the longer you wait, the more info you’ll have.

You can track NBA futures odds for the NBA Championship, playoffs, and key NBA player awards – like the NBA MVP and Rookie of the Year – all year long using Sports Betting Dime’s basketball futures trackers:

Check the pages above to see how odds have shifted over time and keep an eye out for value when betting NBA futures.

Vegas NBA Odds vs. Online Sportsbook NBA Odds

Longtime sports fans are probably familiar with pundits and commentators referencing the “Vegas odds” when discussing NBA games and other events.

As legal online sports betting becomes increasingly available in the US and elsewhere you might be wondering:

What are Las Vegas NBA odds? Are Vegas odds for NBA games any different than those offered at sport betting apps and online sportsbooks?

Generally speaking, NBA odds like those featured on this page will be in-line with what you could expect to see a brick-and-mortar sportsbook in a Vegas casino.

More than anything, “Vegas odds” have become something of a catch-all phrase to describe the NBA odds offered at top sportsbooks, whether betting online or in-person.
