What Are Bets Based On
Soccer is one of the most widely bet-upon sports in the world, and because of how time is regulated, there are a number of different way to bet on an individual game. Bets are based on results after 90 minutes of play (Regular Time), including any time that has been added by the referee due to injuries or stoppages. Overtime, penalty shoot-outs, and golden goals do not count towards any bets made, as they are not considered within 'Regular Time'.
How Many Teams Are There?
There are more nations with soccer teams than any other sport in the world. These teams are divided into two main groups: Those who are either members of FIFA (211 teams) or have membership in a FIFA-affiliated confederation (12 teams), and those who are not members of, or have affiliation to, FIFA (11). Of course, that doesn't even begin to encompass the many other teams that exist outside of FIFA's recognition!
