  • Ohio State didn’t lose a regular-season game last year and still came away with nothing
  • The 2026 schedule sends the Buckeyes to Texas, Iowa, Indiana and USC, with Oregon and Michigan coming to Columbus
  • Keep reading for the Ohio State win total, my season prediction and a look at the Big Ten odds

Ohio State went a full regular season without losing a game last fall and had nothing to show for it by January. Indiana clipped them in the Big Ten Championship, then Miami sent them home from the Cotton Bowl a few weeks later. Twelve straight wins, but two losses when it counted.

Ryan Day is 82-12 in eight full seasons, and he returns a Heisman finalist at quarterback, the best receiver in the sport and a 1,000-yard back. On paper it might be the most talented roster in the country, which is why OSU still tops the national championship odds.

Let’s get into the Ohio State win total, my OSU season prediction and where the Buckeyes sit in the Big Ten odds.

Ohio State 2026 Win Total Odds

Regular Season WinsOdds
Over 9.5-185
Under 9.5+140

The Ohio State win total is set at 9.5, with the over shaded to -185. That’s a 64.9% implied chance of double digits, and bettors are hammering the lower-than-usual number.

The Buckeyes are the third most-backed over in the college football win totals at BetMGM this summer, trailing only Oklahoma and Colorado.

Ohio State Win Total Prediction

Any Ohio State win total prediction starts with the schedule, because that’s what’s most different from last season.

OSU missed Indiana, Oregon, Iowa and USC in last year’s regular season. All four are back this fall, three on the road, and it opens in Week 2 at Texas. Five of these games below come against likely College Football Playoff teams.

That grueling slate is the only reason you’ll come across an OSU win total prediction leaning Under. It’s why their win total dropped a full game, but it’s still not enough to get me there.

Ohio State has won 11 or more games in 13 of the past 14 seasons. The two teams that beat them last year then played each other for the national title. OSU simply doesn’t lose to teams they shouldn’t.

The offense should be better, too. Julian Sayin completed 76.7% of his throws with 32 touchdowns and eight picks, and Jeremiah Smith has 163 catches for 2,558 yards and 27 scores in two seasons.

Arthur Smith arrives from the Steelers and will lean on Bo Jackson, who ran for 1,000 yards as a freshman. That’s important for a team that lost both of its games last season when it handed the ball off fewer than 26 times.

The defense is a bit shaky after Sonny Styles, Arvell Reese and Caleb Downs all went inside the top 11 of the 2026 NFL Draft. However, Matt Patricia went shopping in the portal for Alabama’s James Smith and Qua Russaw, plus safeties Terry Moore and Earl Little Jr.

I’ve got the Buckeyes posting a 10-2 record in 2026, dropping the road opener in Austin and one more somewhere in the Indiana-USC-Oregon stretch. That would cash OSU’s over in the CFB win totals with a game to spare.

Ohio State Big Ten Odds

TeamOdds
Ohio State+180
Indiana+250
Oregon+280
Michigan+1000
USC+1500
Penn State+2000

The Ohio State Big Ten odds have the Buckeyes on top at +180, a 35.7% implied shot. Indiana (+250) and Oregon (+280) are right behind them on the board, and the drop to Michigan at +1000 tells you this is essentially a three-horse race.

Will Ohio State Win the Big Ten?

The Buckeyes should be there in December, but Indiana already beat them once in this game. I’d rather keep my OSU money on the win total than pay favorite juice in the conference title odds.

Anything can happen in a single game. I’m far more confident in Ohio State upholding its standard of consistency and posting another double-digit win season.
