Through two rounds of the Travelers Championship, it’s 32-year old virtual unknown Zack Sucher leading the pack by a pair of strokes in just his fourth PGA Tour event this season.
Much more familiar names like Jason Day & Paul Casey find themselves four shots back of Sucher and in the driver’s seat to make a run on moving day as the co-favorites to win the tournament.

Don’t Waste Your Cash on Zack Sucher
To say this is unfamiliar territory for Zack Sucher would be a massive understatement considering his best ever PGA Tour finish was T-20th at the Barracuda Championship way back in 2015.
2017 @TravelersChamp was my last event before I took my medical opting for knee surgery. Feelings of gratitude & appreciation to be back here this year. I never knew when I’d be back here or if I ever would @SrixonGolf @ClevelandGolf @oxford1942 @nikegolf @SandBBelts #NeverGiveUp pic.twitter.com/GINlWEpWQy

He’s barely played on the PGA Tour in recent seasons but did tie for second three weeks ago on the Web.Com Tour. While he has a two shot edge, don’t expect him to be able to back it up against other big names on the weekend.
Who is Zack Sucher and why is he -11 already!?

If you somehow wagered on him before the week, you got a massive bargain at 350-1, but at 12-1 odds now, place your money elsewhere.
Bubba Watson a Worthy Bet to Win 4th Travelers Championship
Bubba Watson was sizzling hot to begin his back nine in round two, making birdies on five straight holes (10-14)

The end of his round stalled when he failed to birdie the short par 4, 15th, then missed a five footer for birdie on 16, and followed that up with a pair of bogeys to end the day.
#TBT to a third @TravelersChamp title for golf ball loyalist @bubbawatson. Closed out with a birdie on 18 #ProvingIt #ProV1xpic.twitter.com/mqM05G5cnu

He’s won at TPC River Highlands three times (2010, 2015, 2018) and we favored him before the week at 28-1. He’ll have an opportunity to go low Saturday with an earlier tee time. Normally 20-1 odds for a golfer six shots back aren’t worthwhile, but Bubba is definitely worth wagering on as this is definitely a horse for this course.
Best Live Value Picks at Travelers Championship
- Paul Casey (+800): Casey has finished runner-up here twice, both times to Bubba in 2015 & last year. Casey is first in birdies this week and second in putts per green in regulation.
- Kevin Streelman (+4000): The 2014 champ of this tournament is fourth in strokes gained around the green this week. Finished fourth in his last event, the Memorial Tournament. Begins the weekend five back but he’s not afraid to make birdies in bunches (birdied last seven holes to win in 2014.)
- Martin Laird (+10000): Five back of Sucher, Laird is admittedly a long shot at these odds, but he’s T-3rd in scrambling for the tournament and fifth in strokes gained putting.
