An American Athletic conference matchup will steal the lights on Thursday Night as the UCF Knights host the Rutgers Scarlet Knights at 7:30 PM ET at BH Networks Stadium.
The Knights beat Temple last week 39-36 in a game filled with tension and remained as a top 25 team in the nation.
“We’ve got to play better than that if we’re going to continue to win,” UCF coach George O’Leary said. “We’ve just got to play a team game. Offense and defense have to complement each other. That didn’t happen.
“We were very fortunate to come out with a win. We looked like we were out of sync on defense. We weren’t making plays, and you can’t do that. We’ve got to get that fixed before Thursday.”
UCF wide out Breshad Perriman should be back inside the lineup after sitting out last week because of an injury; he leads the team with 567 receiving yards.
Rutgers is 5-4 this season and 2-3 inside the conference, plus they have dropped three of the last four games.
“I have seen nothing but a spirited football team with a lot of energy that’s getting ready to play an excellent football team in UCF,” coach Kyle Flood said. “I think the players and the coaches are focused.”
Central Florida is 17 point favorites in the betting odds, plus the game total is at 58.5. Rutgers is 1-4 ATS in its last 5 games, and 1-4 SU in its last 5 games on the road.
