The New England Patriots will have to show they are contenders or bust this Sunday when they host the unbeaten New Orleans Saints, at 4:25 PM ET at Gillette Stadium.

The Pats suffered their first loss of the season last week against the Bengals, but the worst thing was that Cincinnati held them away from the end zone all day.

“Our job is to go out there and score, so we’re not doing a great job of that,” Patriots Tom Brady said. “Our execution has to be a lot better, and that’s what we’re working on. We’re trying to improve in all areas. It’s frustrating when we don’t score, but we’re going to try to do better this weekend.”

Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski wasn’t clear to play and he won’t suit up for this matchup.

The Saints are undefeated after five weeks, and they have looked better with every week that passes by.

“I think they’re definitely a hard team to prepare for,” Patriots head coach Bill Belichick said. “… They attack the width of the field, and they certainly attack the depth of the field. They run vertical routes. They run deep seem routes. They run check-downs and screens and those types of patterns, too”.

Saints QB Drew Brees is 3-0 against New England with 8 TDs and 0 interceptions.  The Patriots are 1-7 ATS in their last 8 games when playing New Orleans.

The NFL betting odds have the Patriots as 1.5 favorites. The line opened with the home team as the favorite by three points, but it moved all week and settled at 1.5.
