Dabo Swinney has turned Clemson into a college football powerhouse, and their dominance of the ACC has been established with big wins over every conference foe that steps up to challenge them.

The next of those teams will be Manny Diaz and the Hurricanes, but despite their undefeated status, the opening Miami vs Clemson odds suggest that this huge ACC matchup will be business as usual for the Tigers.

Clemson Keeps Rolling

In college football, greatness as a program is, unfortunately, boring to watch at times. Under Dabo Swinney, the Tigers have hit that point where they win big on a weekly basis.

Against Virginia, Trevor Lawrence had 329 yards and three touchdowns, but Travis Etienne was the star of the show. He had 73 yards and a score on the ground, and added 114 receiving yards and another touchdown through the air.

The 41-23 final wasn’t the sheer domination we’re used to seeing from Clemson, but that says a lot about just how good the Tigers are. They led comfortably all night, entering halftime with a 24-10 advantage and not turning the ball over a single time.

Hurricanes Have Gained Strength

Miami has looked like a completely new program in 2020, and with a couple of huge wins in the national ABC primetime slot, the hype around the Hurricanes is high once again.

They’ll enter this matchup 3-0, with victories over UAB, Louisville, and Florida State under their belt so far. Manny Diaz couldn’t have asked for a better situation than to be able to take the positive momentum of a 52-10 win over FSU into a two week prep for Clemson.

The headliner for Miami has been quarterback D’Eriq King running new offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee’s offense. Lashlee is a former Gus Malzahn assistant, and King’s ability to run has translated with the offense to the tune of 697 team rushing yards in three contests.

Where Will the Line Move?

Considering the buzz around the Hurricanes through three games, it’s easy to see money coming in on Miami from the betting public. The question really becomes; is Miami for real?

While this has been a nice start, Miami hasn’t proven that they can hang with a team like Clemson yet. The win over UAB was nice, but that’s a Sun Belt team. The win over Louisville was impressive, but while there is excitement about the future for the Cardinals, Scott Satterfield hasn’t turned the Cardinals back into a real contender just yet. Obviously, a win over Florida State means little to nothing with where things have gone in Tallahassee.

The line could see some shift to Miami, so if you like the ‘Canes, it’ll be best to hit them early. That 3-0 mark, however, isn’t the most convincing résumé when it comes to playing a team like this.
