  • We’re looking at almost nothing on the MLB slate for Monday, June 2
  • On small slates like this, we need to lock in harder than ever to find two guys to swing us to glory
  • See below for my +1968 home run parlay today

When I saw there were only seven games on the MLB slate today, I almost gave up on the day. It seemed like it was already over. But then I remembered a guy in a movie once who asked, “Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?” The answer to that question was “no.” History tells us it was not over; in fact, it was only the beginning. That’s kind of how this is. It’s Monday, which is the beginning of the week. We’ve only just begun, and the best way to begin is to take a kill shot on the books and end this thing early. We could be playing with house money all week if we just lock in on this little baby slate the way we know how to lock in. Lucky for us, I’ve already locked in and found two guys that are highly likely to hit at least two home runs each tonight. We only need one, though! Feels easy!

Please remember to play both legs straight for a 1/4 unit as well as a 1/4 unit two-leg parlay.

Altogether, both legs of today’s home run parlay generate +1968 odds at FanDuel, meaning a $100 bet would profit $1,968 if both legs hit.

Monday HR Parlay Leg #1 – Brent Rooker to Hit a Home Run

We’re going to have to stay up late to watch this thing play out because we’re on the West Coast for both games. We don’t choose where these guys play, so we don’t really have a choice. Still, we can sacrifice for the greater good and stay up a little late to stuff cash in our pockets. Brent Rooker would want it that way (probably).

Two words come to mind: four, seam, fastball. Just look at what Rooker does to that pitch from righties.

Four-seam Fastball21%50%

This is obviously about Rooker since he’s going to be the one swinging the bat, but this is also about Joe Ryan. The man is a damn good pitcher but he’s also a barrel machine. We’re looking at a 23.5% barrel rate to right-handed batters over the last 30 days. That’s Little League bad. The only thing keeping those balls in the park was the weather, but he won’t get bailed out by the wind tonight. These guys are playing at a high school field with the wind blowing out. Bombs away.

Monday HR Parlay Leg #2 – Pete Alonso to Hit a Home Run

We can’t waste a free square like Brent Rooker, so we really need to lock in with our second leg. Lucky for us, the great Pete Alonso is out in LA dropping nukes, so we can just hitch a ride to glory with him. I’m sure he’s not going to mind one bit.

One look at his numbers against the pitch mix he’ll see tonight tells us all we need to know. The man is handing out multiple souvenirs tonight.

Since we’re not casuals, we know that pitchers matter a little bit, and Pete will see one he likes tonight in Dustin May. I need to be on the record as saying, “I’m a Dustin May guy”, but here’s the thing. His barrel rate to righties over the last month is atrocious. Not quite as bad as Joe Ryan’s, but nobody’s is. This is just an example of bad timing since Alonso is in town and he’s in good form. Word to the wise, bring a glove if you’re sitting in the left field bleachers tonight. Maybe even a helmet. Safety first.
