The Panthers had seen enough with head coach Matt Rhule and gave him his pink slip, leading to speculation on who their next permanent head coach will be. For now, Steve Wilks takes over on an interim basis.

The Carolina offense hasn’t been a ton better, with the exception of star running back Christian McCaffrey, leading to rumors on who his potential next team might be. Baker Mayfield likely won’t be playing, so they’ll turn to P.J. Walker, who has actually won his only two career starts. That comes with a caveat, however, as he’s thrown for two TDs but a whopping eight interceptions. He’s in effect their fourth-string QB (Mayfield, Sam Darnold and Matt Corral out).

According to Pro Football Focus, the Panthers are the 22nd-ranked team through five weeks (28th on offense, 18th on defense). As for the Rams, they are 16th (26th on offense, 5th on D).
