  • The NFL is back with another monster slate for Week 3 on Sunday, September 22nd, 2024
  • A great way to get in on the action is by betting NFL player props and there are more than enough again this Sunday
  • See below to find two of my favorite player props to bet for Week 3

We swept last week with moves on Tony Pollard and Derrick Henry. Both were plus money bangers which made things even better. Pollard made us sweat a little since he didn’t go over his rushing total until late. Henry, on the other hand, looked destined to carry the ball 18+ times from the jump. But no matter what happened last week, that’s all behind us as we have an entirely new slate to break down.

Early in the season, it’s a little easier to spot trends. I’m not saying we can’t do it later in the year; I’m just saying it feels easier in Weeks 1-5. I came to this conclusion when I was looking for bets for Week 3. It hit me that two obvious moves have more to do with trends than anything else. Obviously we are betting talent with these two bets, but the trends are what made me push submit at DraftKings. Keep reading.

Get Tank Dell The Ball

When the Houston Texans signed Stefon Diggs in the offseason, it looked like they would take over the world. The addition gave them yet another weapon for CJ Stroud to attack with. It felt unfair. There was only one problem though.

While it’s great to have Diggs, Houston was going to have to figure out how to get Tank Dell the ball.

There is only one ball in the sport of football. Everyone knows that. So when teams have 1000 playmakers, they have to figure out how to keep all of these playmakers happy. It’s just how happiness works. Lucky for us, the Texans have figured out how to keep Dell happy so far.

In Weeks 1 & 2, we’ve seen Dell get rush attempts which is genius. While attempts are cool, we still need our guys to make something happen with those attempts. That’s where Dell comes in. The man can run 65 mph. In both games this season, he’s gone for 10+ rushing yards. I think this wrinkle stays around for awhile, and if I’m right, Dell will go way over six rushing yards on Sunday. Feels right.

  • The Pick: Tank Dell Over 5.5 Rushing Yards (+100) – DraftKings

Greg Dortch Gets Loose Sunday

Another guy that I think should be getting the ball more this week is Greg Dortch. He had a disappointing day last week even though the Cardinals scored all over the Los Angeles Rams. It’s hard to imagine a receiver whose team dropped 40+ points only catching two passes, but it happened.

Still, I find it hard to believe Kyler Murray has forgotten about Dortch.

The thing with this one is, I like Dortch but we’re not necessarily betting Dortch because he’s good. Obviously that helps, but opponent matters in the NFL. We need one that will score points on the Cardinals, but also be vulnerable to a guy like Dortch. We have that opponent in the Detroit Lions.

So far this season, the Lions have been able to move the ball on offense which puts pressure on their opponents to score. When that happens, we can see a trend emerge. Opposing slot receivers are going wild. In Week 1, it was Cooper Kupp going for 14 receptions. Last week, it was Chris Godwin with seven grabs. If that trend continues this week, our guy Dortch will catch at least four balls. Feels right.

  • The Pick: Greg Dortch Over 3.5 Receptions (+120) – DraftKings
