The San Diego Chargers open the season against the Houston Texans on a Monday night matchup, but some people are more concerned about the form of Quarterback Phillip Rivers more than what the Texans could bring.

“The thing that’s gotten to me this offseason is, ‘Who’s going to fix Philip?'” Rivers told The Los Angeles Times. “That phrase, I almost laugh it off. That drives me nuts, really.

“There’s no question I’m responsible for some of the plays and some of the games we haven’t won. I’m not going to shy away from that. But we can go sit in there and watch a lot of tape from last year, and I’ll ask you, ‘What do you want to fix?’ It’s just about eliminating some of the bad plays.”

Rivers draft generation lived to its potential; Ben Roethlisberger won two Super Bowls and Eli Manning won another two.  Rivers hasn’t been in an AFC conference game since 2007.

Preseason numbers didn’t wow anybody.  He completed 20 of 33 passes for 166 yards and no touchdowns.

There’s no question that when you have games like that, you don’t feel the same way. When you’ve made that throw three or four games in a row, it’s a lot easier to pull the trigger the next time. But when maybe it’s been an interception the last couple, it’s a little harder to make it. It’s human nature”.

The Texans are 3 point favorites for their game against San Diego despite playing away from home.
