- The 2019 US Open tees off Thursday, June 13th
- A lot of world class players playing well in the lead up to the event
- Will one of the big guns win the tournament or is the field the better bet?
The US Open returns to famed Pebble Beach Golf Links for the first time since 2010 on Thursday with many big name players playing well, including Rory McIlroy, who just won the RBC Canadian Open, and Patrick Cantlay, who tasted victory the week before at the Memorial Tournament.
Sportsbooks have listed two interesting prop bets. You can wager on whether one of the event’s top players will lift the trophy come Sunday, or whether a less heralded player will take home the title.
Big Four Golfers Against the Field Odds
Who Will Win the 2019 US Open? | Odds |
---|---|
Woods, Kopeka, D. Johnson, or McIlroy | +150 |
FIELD | -200 |
*All odds taken 06/10/19
Simply put, the big four golfers have been playing unbelievable golf throughout 2019. Woods won the Masters, Koepka bagged the PGA Championship, Dustin Johnson nearly won both majors and won the WGC-Mexico Championship, and Rory McIlroy snagged the Players Championship and last week’s RBC Canadian Open.

Of the big four, only Tiger missed the cut in the first two majors (PGA), but he deserves a pass for winning the Masters. Looking at what they’ve been able to accomplish thus far leaves little room to realistically expect someone else to win the Open.
Big 4 Golfers’ Major Results in 2019
Golfer | Masters Finish | PGA Championship Finish |
---|---|---|
Tiger Woods | WIN | CUT |
Brooks Koepka | T-2nd | WIN |
Dustin Johnson | T-2nd | 2nd |
Rory McIlroy | T-21st | T-8th |
Of the big four, surprisingly Rory McIlroy hasn’t had the best record in the majors this year, which is still relative to his profound talents. He posted a middling result at the Masters and a T-8th finish at the PGA where he barely made the cut, but he rebounded on the weekend. Expect him to be in contention come Sunday.
@McIlroyRory occasionally disappoints only because we know he can be SO good. Put it all together as he did Sunday, and he puts people away.

Pick: Big Four Golfers Win US Open (+150)
Big Six Golfers Against the Field Odds
Who Will Win the 2019 US Open? | Odds |
---|---|
Woods, Koepka, D. Johnson, McIlroy, Spieth, or Cantlay | EVEN |
FIELD | -130 |
So you already have the big four golfers for the first prop bet and now you’re adding Patrick Cantlay who won two weeks ago and Jordan Spieth, who has racked up three straight top 10 finishes? This one seems like easy money!

Of course, it’s golf, a wildly unpredictable sport that has seen a golfer with 500-1 odds win this season (Adam Long, Desert Classic), and Max Homa (300-1, Wells Fargo Championship.) But this is a major championship so the smart play would be to bank on one of these top six guys to emerge victorious.
Pick: Big Six Golfers win US Open (EVEN)
