Among the NHL picks set for Saturday, February 20th, the St. Louis Blues and San Jose Sharks figure to be a close call.
The last four games between the two teams have reached a conclusion as one-goal decisions. Overall, five of the last seven games played by the Sharks ended in one-goal outcomes. In the case of the Blues, they’ve played six one-goal games over their past eight outings.
The last time the Buffalo Sabres and New Jersey Devils got together, it didn’t turn out well for either squad. That was on January 31st and both teams ended up in the NHL’s COVID-19 protocol. The Sabres didn’t see game action again until February 15th. The Devils were idled until February 16th.
The Dallas Stars-Tampa Bay Lightning and Chicago Blackhawks-Carolina Hurricanes games were postponed. Instead, Carolina will play host to the reigning Stanley Cup champion Lightning.

Odds taken Feb. 19th at DraftKings
Sharks Get The Blues
When these two teams met on Thursday, the Sharks gained a 2-1 lead with 5:29 left in the second period and held it until there was 20 seconds left in regulation. That’s when Brayden Schenn banged in the tying goal for the Blues. David Perron gave St Louis a 3-2 victory with a minute to go in the overtime period.
It was the second straight 3-2 game for San Jose. Four of the Sharks’ past seven games have gone to extra time.

The Blues have played three one-goal games in succession. Three of their last five games extended beyond 60 minutes.
Sharks defenseman Erik Karlsson (lower body) and Blues defenseman Colton Parayko (undisclosed) both missed the game. Blues forward Ivan Barbashev left Thursday’s game with an ankle injury and was played on IR. Forward Nathan Walker was recalled from AHL Utica.
The puck drops at 7 PM EST at the Enterprise Center.
Best Bet: San Jose Sharks +1.5 (-160), 1 unit.
Devils Rolls, Sabres Stumble
The Devils are 2-0 since returning from their 15-day quarantine. They smacked the New York Rangers 5-2 and followed up with an impressive 3-2 verdict over the Boston Bruins.
New Jersey took three of four points from Buffalo when the teams met Jan. 30-31. The Sabres are 0-3 since coming back from their COVID shutdown, scoring just two goals in those three losses.
Clearly, what the Sabres need is more players who were taken in the top 10 of the draft. They only have 10, after all.

Buffalo has dropped four of the last five and eight of its last 10 games at New Jersey. The last four Sabres-Devils games all went over, with an average of eight goals per game.
The game time is 12:30 PM EST at the Prudential Center.
Best Bet: Over 5.5 goals (-121), 1 unit.
