The SEC Baseball Tournament rolls on Friday with a quarterfinal matchup between Ole Miss (38-18) and Arkansas (43-12). The no. 7 seed Rebels took down Florida to reach this stage, but online sportsbooks don’t like their chances against the no. 4 seed Razorbacks.
I’m a little more optimistic about the Ole Miss outlook, especially at the dish.
Ole Miss vs Arkansas Picks and Predictions

SPORTSBOOK
This game profiles as a high-scoring affair, and I’m predicting it exceeds the 10.5-run total. These two squads met earlier in the season for a three-game set, with each contest producing 15 or more runs. Arkansas leads the SEC in runs, hits average and slugging, while the Rebels are no slouch.
The Ole Miss lineup ranks top-six in the conference in home runs and slugging, and seventh in runs. They crossed the plate 22 times in their lone series against the Razorbacks earlier this season, and scored 8 or more runs in their final four games before the SEC Tournament. The Rebels feature five players with double-digit home runs, as well as Luke Hill, a top-50 MLB prospect.
They’ve also had success against Arkansas starter Zach Root earlier in the season. Root had his worst outing of the campaign against the Rebels, yielding 7 earned runs in just 3 innings of work.
Riley Maddox vs Zach Root Stats
The Razorbacks ace is among the top-25 MLB prospect at the collegiate level, but doesn’t enter play in top form. Arkansas starters have struggled recently posting an ERA of 9.00 over their last six games. Root coughed up 7 hits and 4 runs in his previous outing, and has yielded 12 hits and 6 runs over his past 9.2 innings.
Thankfully, Root should get plenty of run support. Few teams in all of college baseball can match the Razorbacks firepower, as their lineup is loaded with big bats. Seven different players have slugged double-digit home runs, led by Wehiwa Aloy and his 18 dingers. Aloy is the sixth ranked prospect at the collegiate level, and boasts an OBP of .440 and a .677 slugging percentage.
He’s smacked 4 hits, including 3 home runs, versus the Rebels this season, while driving in 5 runs. He and his teammates should find success against Ole Miss starter Riley Maddox, who’s having an underwhelming season. Maddox owns a 5.46 ERA, and has allowed 16 hits and 9 runs over his last 14 innings. He started against the Razorbacks earlier in the season, but didn’t last long. Maddox was roughed up for 4 hits and 3 runs over just 4 innings, walking two and hitting another batter.
Ole Miss vs Arkansas Odds
The best odds we can get on over 10.5 runs is -110 at Bet365. Arkansas is a commanding -238 moneyline favorite, with the Rebels coming back as +180 underdogs. The Razorbacks are laying 1.5 on the run line at -130 odds, and if you like Arkansas in this matchup that may be the route to go. Each of the Razorbacks last 33 victories have come by 2+ runs.

The Razorbacks took two of three meetings versus Ole Miss back in March, including their most dramatic victory of the season. They scored five times in the 9th inning of a 12-9 win back on March 16th, highlighted by an Aloy 3-run go-ahead home run.
