The 102nd Battle of the Bricks kicks off Tuesday night’s MACtion slate, with the Miami RedHawks (4-3, 4-0 MAC) traveling to Athens to face Ohio (5-3, 3-1 MAC) in a pivotal conference showdown. This is a rivalry with over a century of bad blood, and Miami is looking for revenge after Ohio’s dominant 38-3 championship victory in their last meeting.
Online sportsbooks have installed the Bobcats as slight home favorites in the latest college football odds. Kickoff is set for 7:00 PM ET from Frank Solich Field at Peden Stadium in Athens, with ESPN2 providing the broadcast coverage.
Here’s my final Miami RedHawks vs Ohio prediction, player prop picks & best bets for Tuesday night.
Miami RedHawks vs Ohio Prediction
I’m buying the half point and backing the RedHawks +3 in this spot. Miami brings the better defense to Athens, and that matters in a rivalry game where intensity cranks up and execution becomes crucial.
Miami’s pass rush is the difference maker here. The RedHawks have generated 25 sacks this season compared to Ohio’s 13, nearly double the production. That edge becomes magnified when facing Ohio QB Parker Navarro, who’s been sacked 15 times in eight games and threw two picks in his last outing.
The numbers back up Miami’s defensive prowess. The RedHawks allow just 21.38 points per game (38th nationally) and 3.66 yards per rush attempt (26th). Ohio’s ground game averages just 4.24 yards per carry (67th nationally), and the Miami defense should be able to contain that attack.
Miami is 5-0 ATS in their last five games overall and 5-0 ATS in conference play. Those trends matter when you’re getting points in a rivalry game. The underdog is also 5-2 ATS in the last seven meetings between these teams, and Miami fits that profile perfectly tonight.
Why RedHawks Keep It Close and the Under Hits
The total of 49.5 looks too high for a November rivalry game. Miami allows 21.38 points per game while Ohio gives up 24.75, suggesting we’re looking at a game in the low-to-mid 40s. The Under is 6-1-1 in the RedHawks’ last eight November games and 5-1-1 in Ohio’s last seven games against teams with winning records.
Miami’s 25 sacks force long-yardage situations that kill drives and keep the clock moving. While the over has hit in four of the last five meetings, that 38-3 MAC Championship blowout last December went well under. With the RedHawks’ defense playing at an elite level and rivalry intensity turning every possession into a grind, we’re headed for another low-scoring battle.
Best Bet: Miami RedHawks +3 (buying half point) – The RedHawks’ defense and ATS trends make them the smart play getting a field goal.
Total Play: Under 49.5 (-109) – Rivalry intensity and defensive prowess push this game into the low 40s.
Same Game Parlay: Miami RedHawks +3 + Under 49.5 – These picks correlate perfectly for a defensive struggle where the RedHawks keep it close.
Miami RedHawks vs Ohio Player Props to Bet
Beyond the side and total, there’s solid value in the player props market for this rivalry matchup.
Sieh Bangura Under 82.5 Rushing Yards (-114) – Miami’s run defense allows just 3.66 yards per attempt (26th nationally), and their ability to stack the box against Ohio’s predictable ground game makes this prop attractive. The Bobcats’ leading rusher will have trouble finding running room against the RedHawks’ front seven.
DeQuan Finn Over 58.5 Rushing Yards (-115) – Ohio has managed just 13 sacks all season, giving Finn plenty of time to operate as a dual-threat. The Miami QB should exploit Ohio’s vulnerable pass rush with his legs, creating opportunities on designed runs and scrambles.
Parker Navarro Under 1.5 Passing TDs (-207) – Miami’s pass rush has been relentless, and Navarro has already thrown three picks in his last two games. The heavy juice tells the story – this prop expects the RedHawks’ pressure to disrupt Ohio’s passing game.
