Texas returns home in CFB Week 2 after a disappointing loss to Ohio State last Saturday. They only lost by a touchdown, but Arch Manning struggled, and the offense could not move the ball for the majority of the game.
The Longhorns have a chance to right the ship on Saturday against San Jose State. Texas has an upcoming three-game stretch to work out the kinks as they play San Jose State, UTEP, and Sam Houston State before heading to The Swamp to begin SEC play.
Texas is a 36.5-point favorite over San Jose State, who lost to Central Michigan at home in Week 1.

San Jose State vs Texas Odds
The college football odds expect this game to be a blowout, as Texas is favored by 36.5 points. The spread opened at Texas -37.5 but has moved a point. The O/U is 53.5, moving slightly after the line opened at O/U 52.5. Both of these teams cashed the under in Week 1, playing low-scoring games.

Texas Betting Trends
Texas had a tough Week 1. Arch Manning made his first real start in college, and he had to go into Columbus and take on the defending National Champions. He finished the game 17/30 for 170 yards with a touchdown and an interception. He had some good moments, but he missed plenty of throws that he will look to correct before SEC play. His Heisman odds took a hit after his performance.
Texas is now 0-1 straight up and against the spread. The under cashed in Week 1 as they lost 14-7.
The Longhorns defense looked the part against an explosive Ohio State offense. They limited the Buckeyes to 203 total yards, and Jeremiah Smith had just 43 receiving yards. They actually outgained Ohio State both on the ground and through the air, but they were not able to convert that into points. They did not score until the fourth quarter.
Sark will have Texas motivated in this game against San Jose State.
San Jose State Betting Trends
San Jose State lost outright in Week 1 to Central Michigan as 14-point favorites. That is not the start they wanted for a team that went 7-6 and 5-2 at home last season.
It was a low-scoring, 16-14 game. Central Michigan took the lead early, and the Spartans were able to battle back but ultimately fell short on their home turf.
San Jose State struggled to move the ball against Central Michigan’s defense, and quarterback Walker Eget threw two interceptions. They will not be able to afford having turnovers against this Texas defense.
Texas vs San Jose State Prediction
Texas will be motivated in this game, so I have a hard time thinking that they will not cover the large spread. Last year, the Longhorns really flexed their muscles on inferior competition. They beat Colorado State 52-0, UTSA 56-7, and Louisiana Monroe 51-3. I am predicting a similar result in this game.
San Jose State will have a really difficult time moving the ball against this Longhorns defense that has the ability to be the top defensive unit in the country. If they could only score two touchdowns against Central Michigan at home, do not expect them to score a lot of points against Texas on Saturday.
The Spartans allowed 236 rushing yards to Central Michigan, so I see the Longhorns having a lot of success on the ground. They will be able to run the ball effectively, making things comfortable for Arch to throw the ball against a secondary that struggled a bit in Week 1. They gave up enough chunk plays that I believe Texas’s passing game will be just fine.
The Longhorns are the much better team, and this is the perfect opportunity to let off some steam and get a big, sweat-free win against the Spartans.
