- Kyrie Irving averaged 23.8 PPG in his final season with the Celtics
- The All-Star point guard has surpassed 22.5 PPG over the last three seasons
- Irving’s RPG average is currently at 3.5
The Brooklyn Nets made the biggest splash in NBA free agency last weekend by signing Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving.
The franchise will have to wait to showcase Durant, who is recovering from what is likely to be season-ending Achilles surgery. That puts the focus squarely on Irving.

Sportsbooks are offering a pair of enticing prop bets on Irving, including an over/under on points and rebounds per game. Let’s dig into the odds.
How Many Points Will Kyrie Irving Average in 2019-20?
Kyrie Irving 2019-20 Regular Season PPG Average | Odds |
---|---|
Over 22.5 | -115 |
Under 22.5 | -115 |

By all accounts, the Irving experiment in Boston was far from a success. However, it’s difficult to discount what the All-Star point guard accomplished statistically for the Celts. In 67 regular season games in 2018-19, Irving averaged 23.8 points per game for a Boston team that finished 14th overall in team scoring.

Irving had his best season — averaging 25.2 points per game — playing alongside LeBron James in Cleveland in 2016-17. However, he also posted a 24.4 PPG average in 60 games played in his first season with the Celtics.
Looking at Brooklyn’s team heading into the 2019-20 campaign, there is enough offense surrounding Irving that will help him reach 23 or more points in his first year with the Nets.
No player on the Nets averaged more than 21.2 per game last season as D’Angelo Russell led the way at 21.2, followed by Spencer Dinwiddie at 16.8.
No player on the Nets averaged more than 21.2 per game last season as D’Angelo Russell led the way at 21.2, followed by Spencer Dinwiddie at 16.8. With Dinwiddie returning to the floor, the Nets will be a playoff-contending team, which in turn will help Irving’s overall numbers this season.
Pick: Over 22.5 (-115)
How Many Rebounds Will Kyrie Irving Average in 2019-20?
Kyrie Irving 2019-20 Regular Season RPG Average | Odds |
---|---|
Over 3.5 | -115 |
Under 3.5 | -115 |
The tougher prop wager to predict is the over/under on Irving’s rebounds per game average. The opening odds have been set at 3.5 and pays out at -115.
It may be enticing to focus in on Irving’s 5.0 rebounds per game from a season ago, but expect the star point guard to fall back down to the 3.0 to 3.7 range he’s been accustomed to over his career.
Irving has averaged over 3.5 RPG five out of the eight seasons in the NBA. On a much longer Nets team that features DeAndre Jordan and Jarrett Allen, Irving won’t be depended on to pull down as many boards.
Pick: Under 3.5 (-115)
