NBA Player Props Bet #1: Sam Hauser Threes

Hauser is expected to start tonight versus the 76ers and will be relied on heavily for offense. The Celtics lost Jayson Tatum to a torn Achilles and traded away Kristaps Porzingis, meaning there’s a substantial amount of shots up for grabs.

They’d be wise to feed Hauser, who’s the team’s most efficient three-point shooter of all-time. He’s always among the league leaders in shot quality, 3-point field goal percentage and true shooting percentage, and rarely commits turnovers.

Hauser’s made 40 career starts and averages 3.6 made threes in those outings. I believe that number will tick up this season, as no team in the NBA is going to take more triples than Boston, and the Celtics have been adamant about playing faster.

It also doesn’t hurt that Philadelphia isn’t exactly a defensive juggernaut. The Sixers finished last season with the league’s fifth worst defensive rating, while only Sacramento was worse at defending the three-point line.

NBA Player Props Pick #2: Cooper Flagg Pts+Reb+Ast

Flagg may be the overwhelming favorite in the NBA rookie of the year odds, but his season debut is no cupcake. Dallas faces San Antonio, who is loaded with long, athletic freaks. The Spurs are going to vastly improve on their 25th best defensive rating from last season, in large part because Victor Wembanyama is back.

The former number one pick is the top choice in the NBA defensive player of the year odds. He’ll be swatting Maverick shot attempts into the fourth row and gobbling up rebounds all night.

Cooper Flagg Preseason Stats

Not only is the matchup tough, but Flagg is likely going to spend a good chunk of time playing point guard. That was the case in Summer League and in the preseason, and I predict the Spurs will pressure him relentlessly as a ball handler. Playing the point also lowers his rebounding ceiling something he can’t afford to have happen if he wants to clear 26.5 points+rebounds+assists.

NBA Player Props Best Bet #3: Kevin Porter Jr. Assists

It took awhile for Porter Jr. to find a role in Milwaukee, but once he did his production was substantial. Of course it helps playing with NBA MVP odds contender Giannis Antetokounmpo, as Porter Jr. can rack up a ton of dimes feeding the Greek Freak.

The addition of Myles Turner gives Porter Jr. another big to feed inside, and I’m predicting well over 5.5 assists tonight against the lowly Wizards. Washington had the third worst defensive rating last season, and allowed the fifth most assists.

Porter Jr. put up 6+ assists in five of the final six games last season in which he played 20+ minutes, and as a full-time starter he projects for big minutes and a big assist total versus the Wiz.
