The West Finals tip-off tonight as the Oklahoma City Thunder host the Minnesota Timberwolves at the Paycom Center. Minnesota is well rested having disposed of Golden State six days ago, while OKC just survived a gruelling seven-game series with Denver that wrapped up on Sunday.

History has not been kind to home favorites coming off a Game 7, and I’m targeting the Timberwolves against the spread as the first pick in my T-Wolves vs Thunder Same Parlay for Game 1.

BetOdds
Minnesota Timberwolves +7-108
Anthony Edwards 20+ Points-450
Luguentz Dort 2+ Threes-185
SGP ODDS at DRAFTKINGS+248

Minnesota is catching 7 points tonight, marking the first time since February 24th that they’ve been an underdog of more than 6 points. The SGP continues with 20+ points for Anthony Edwards, who ranks third among remaining players in scoring. We’ll round out the SGP with 2+ threes for Lu Dort, a number he’s routinely hit this postseason. Add it all up, and it’s a +248 pay day if it hits.

T-Wolves vs Thunder Same-Game Parlay Pick #1: Minnesota Timberwolves +7

I don’t want to read too much into the regular season, but it’s worth noting the T-Wolves went 2-2 versus the NBA Championship odds favorites, covering in three of four games. Minnesota enters play with a 25-6 record since March 1st, which marked the return of Julius Randle from injury.

The Timberwolves boast the third best Net Rating in the NBA playoff bracket, and have lost fewer games through two rounds than anyone else. They’re 7-1 against the spread in their last eight contests, covering in three straight road games.

Most importantly though, is that they’re healthy and rested. While OKC was putting all kinds of brutal miles on their bodies versus the Nuggets, Minnesota was relaxing at home.

Home favorites in Game 1 of the Conference Finals immediately following a Game 7 are just 10-12 straight up, and 6-15-1 against the spread since 2003.

MIN vs OKC SGP Pick #2: Anthony Edwards 20+ Points

There may not be a more enjoyable player to watch in the NBA these days than Anthony Edwards. The T-Wolves superstar is electric every time he touches the ball, and won’t back down from anyone. He can score inside and out, and if he gets an open lane look out.

Edwards will be the focal point of the Minnesota offense, and will draw all kinds of extra attention from the Thunder defense. I don’t think it will matter, as Ant is basically matchup proof at this point. Edwards led the NBA in threes during the regular season, and only Jalen Brunson has taken more shots per game of the players still remaining.

He’s averaging over 20 field goal attempts per night this postseason, reaching 20 points in eight of nine games. The only time he failed he shot 26.3% from the field, which was his worst shooting performance of the entire season. He averaged 22.3 points per contest versus the Thunder in the regular season, and should get to 20 tonight without much trouble.

Timberwolves vs Thunder Same-Game Parlay Pick #3: Luguentz Dort 2+ Threes

When OKC has the ball, all eyes will be on Shai-Gilgeous Alexander. Expect the Minnesota defense to collapse around him, just like the Nuggets and Grizzlies did in previous rounds. That leads to plenty of open looks for his teammates, and Lu Dort will be a big-time benefactor.

No team is averaging more open threes per playoff game (22.7) than the Thunder. Dort is taking more threes (6.8) than anyone else on the roster, and has 2+ makes in five of his last seven contests. He shot a career-best 41.2% from downtown in the regular season and will get plenty of opportunities to splash triples tonight.
