Dealing with a banged-up lineup, the Timberwolves pay a visit to the mecca on Monday, March 20th to take on the New York Knicks, who have been one of the hottest teams in the NBA the last couple of months.
Tipoff from Madison Square Garden is set for 7:30 pm for a game that will be broadcast by MSG and Bally Sports North.
Every game for the Timberwolves is crucial at this point as they sit on the edge of the NBA playoff odds. With injuries mounting, this will undoubtedly prove to be a stiff test for Minnesota.
Timberwolves vs Knicks Odds
Team | Spread | Moneyline | Total |
---|---|---|---|
Minnesota Timberwolves | +8 (-110) | +275 | OFF |
New York Knicks | -8 (-110) | -330 | OFF |
After a three game slide, where starting point guard Jalen Brunson was dealing with an injury, the Knicks are back on track, winning three in a row. Brunson made a triumphant return to the lineup on Saturday, putting up 24 points and five dimes in a 116-110 over the West’s best, the Denver Nuggets.
With Brunson back in good health, the Knicks are comfy 8-point favorites against a Timberwolves squad that will definitely be without Karl-Anthony Towns, but could also be missing both Anthony Edwards and Rudy Gobert as well.

Injuries Huge Cause of Concern for Timberwolves
Without both Towns and Edwards, the T-Wolves were easy pickings, in a 122-107 defeat to the Toronto Raptors on Saturday. It didn’t help that Minnesota had lost in overtime to the Bulls the night before and didn’t get into Toronto until the wee hours of the morning.
While the news on Edwards does appear positive looking forward, it’ll be surprising if he’s on the court against the Knicks. He has been in a walking boot, hoping the swelling on his ankle goes down and is officially listed as day-to-day.

OUT
Karl-Anthony Towns – CalfQUESTIONABLE
Anthony Edwards – Ankle
Rudy Gobert – Ankle
Austin Rivers – Back

Without their facilitator on offense, the T-Wolves shot 45.9% from the floor, and made just 5 of 23 three point attempts against the Raptors.
Missing Gobert would only compound the issues with regards to rebounding with their other big man out. The T-Wolves sit 23rd in the association in rebounding and will be dealing with a Knicks team that thrives on getting putbacks and 2nd chance points.
Knicks Getting Stronger As Season Rolls On
It’s once again fun to be in the Garden watching the Knicks play ball. This is about as physical and throwback a team as you can find in today’s NBA, a squad that might even make Pat Riley smile if he wasn’t president of the Heat. Since the start of February, only two teams have a better record than the New York Knickerbockers.
NBA Standings Since February 1st
Team | Record |
---|---|
1. Milwaukee Bucks | 16-3 |
2. Philadelphia 76ers | 16-5 |
3. New York Knicks | 15-5 |
4. Sacramento Kings | 15-6 |
5. Cleveland Cavaliers | 14-6 |
**Prior to Sunday’s Games**
With Brunson back in the fold, they’re riding as high as ever this season following a win over the West-leading Nuggets. Less than a month currently remains in the regular season, and it appears as though Tim Thibodeau’s team is locked into a first round matchup with Cleveland in the NBA playoff bracket.
Sitting at 42-30 overall, New York has been a great road team this season, owning a 22-14 mark, but they’ve been particularly inspired at the Garden of late, going 8-1 at home since the start of February and going 6-1-1 against the spread on Broadway in their last eight.
Timberwolves vs Knicks Prediction
Right now, Minnesota are wounded prey for a Knicks team that’s showing the teeth of a lion in the wilderness. New York are monsters on the glass, ranking 2nd in the association in rebounds per game and 2nd chance points.
Great win.
Knicks 116 Denver 110
Thibs:
"Mitch & Isiah gave us solid minutes
The Rebounding.
Julius hit some timely buckets late
Jalen stabilized us
RJ gave us really good minutes
The rebounding was huge"— Knicks.City (@knickcity) March 18, 2023
Throw in the fact that Thibodeau probably will want to kick his former team while they’re down and we got all the makings of a beatdown in Gotham City on Monday night.
As 8-point chalk in the NBA odds, the spread might be a little too rich for some bettors’ liking, but our prediction is that the Knicks dominate physically and impose their will on a Timberwolves team barely keeping their heads above water in the West.
Pick: New York Knicks -8 (-110)
