A pair of slumping teams in the Eastern Conference will be searching for a much-needed win on Monday night as the Washington Wizards (4-6, 2-3 away) take on the Charlotte Hornets (3-7, 1-3 home) at the Spectrum Center. The tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 pm ET.
DC lost a nailbiter to the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday, their second loss in a row after getting blown out by the Brooklyn Nets on Friday by 42 points. The Hornets, meanwhile, continue to be without star guard LaMelo Ball and that’s a big reason they’ve failed to win in their last four contests, also falling to the Nets on Saturday in a low-scoring 98-94 affair.
Wizards vs Hornets Odds
Team | Spread | Moneyline | Total |
---|---|---|---|
Washington Wizards | +3 (-110) | +124 | Ov 220.5 (-110) |
Charlotte Hornets | -3 (-110) | -146 | Un 220.5 (-110) |
Odds as of November 6th at FanDuel Sportsbook.
The Hornets head into Monday’s contest as a 3-point favorite and have moneyline odds of -146. That’s an implied win probability of 59.35%. The Wizards come back at +124. A $100 bet on the visitors here would result in a return of $224.
Charlotte definitely got the better of Washington last season, winning three of four.

Washington Could Be Without Beal
The Wizards actually put up a respectable fight against Memphis without Bradley Beal, who was sidelined after entering COVID-19 protocols earlier in the day. While the rules are more relaxed than during the pandemic, the guard could be out Monday as well in the tail-end of a back-to-back. That means a bigger role for Corey Kispert, who got the start at shooting guard on Sunday.
Bradley Beal has entered the NBA’s health and safety protocols and will be out for tonight’s game at Memphis.
He will return to the team upon receiving clearance under the current NBA guidelines.

In the absence of Beal, Monte Morris stepped up for Washington versus the Grizzlies, leading the way with 18 points on a 7 for 12 clip from the field. Rui Hachimura also posted 15 points off the bench, while Kyle Kuzma dropped 12 and grabbed 11 rebounds.

Considering the Wizards shot a putrid 20% from downtown, it’s actually surprising they remained in this contest. A strong third quarter kept them in it, with Hachimura playing a key part in the comeback. Beal or not, DC should feel confident heading into Monday after going toe to toe with one of the top teams in the Association.
Hornets Need a Win
It was always going to be tough to compete when LaMelo is on the shelf and that’s been the case for Charlotte. After starting off 3-3, they’ve dropped four straight and will be shorthanded Monday. Aside from Ball still recovering from an injury, Dennis Smith also sprained his ankle Saturday. He’s questionable here. Gordon Hayward is out with a shoulder problem, too.
INJURY UPDATE: @hornets vs WAS 11/7
Dennis Smith Jr (L Ankle sprain) is questionable
Cody Martin (L Quad Soreness) is doubtful

Gordon Hayward (L Shoulder contusion) is out— Charlotte Hornets PR (@HornetsPR) November 6, 2022
The return of Terry Rozier provided the Hornets with a boost Saturday against the Nets as he balled out for 25 points, while PJ Washington and Kelly Oubre also contributed 18 apiece.

A 17-6 run to open the fourth quarter put the Hornets in a prime position to possibly end the cold streak, but Kevin Durant and Cam Thomas proved to be too much down the stretch as the Nets overcame a double-digit deficit. Charlotte is now 1-3 at home.
Wizards vs Hornets Prediction
You got two struggling squads here. They’re both under .500 against the spread, but personally, I’m going to go with the recent success of Charlotte against Washington. To play it safe, take the moneyline.
Pick: Hornets moneyline (-146)
