McCaffrey Should Be Good to Go for 49ers
After sitting out two days of practice on Thursday and Friday, McCaffrey was able to return on a limited basis on Saturday. The latest word from NFL insiders is that, barring some sort of pre-game setback, the dual threat of McCaffrey will be in the San Francisco backfield for this game, one of the main reasons we like San Francisco in the 49ers vs Vikings picks.
However, the news is not nearly as promising for Williams or Samuel. San Francisco coach Kyle Shanahan is already confirming Samuel, who has a hairline shoulder fracture, as out for this game and next week’s showdown with the Cincinnati Bengals. Week 9 is the bye week for the 49ers, so that means Samuel won’t be seen in game action again until Week 10.
The oft-injured Williams, who hasn’t played a full season in a decade, is carrying an injury designation of questionable. The 49ers LT has missed at least two games in each of his three previous seasons with San Francisco and isn’t expected to play in this game.
Starting WLB Dre Greenlaw (hamstring) was back at practice on Friday and it’s expected that he’ll be playing in the MNF game.

Vikings Feeling Jefferson’s Absence
In their first week without Jefferson, the Vikings were held to 19 points by the lowly Chicago Bears. QB Kirk Cousins threw for a meager 182 yards. Jefferson is expected to miss 4-6 weeks.
Most QB completions to First Read Targets Wks 1-6:
1. Kirk Cousins: 92 -> Justin Jefferson: 30
2. Matthew Stafford: 90 -> Puka Nacua: 35
3. Sam Howell: 86 ->Terry McLaurin: 25
4. Joe Burrow: 82 -> Ja'Marr Chase: 33
5. Tua Tagovailoa: 80 -> Tyreek Hill: 29 https://t.co/VWvTlWUbfN— ProcessOverResults FF (@PRFFBall) October 19, 2023
Beyond the NFL’s best receiver, the injury list is a short one in terms of Minnesota starters. LG Ezra Cleveland (foot) is out. LCB Akayleb Evans (oblique) is questionable.
In the past week, the Vikings placed WR Jalen Nailor (hamstring) and LW Marcus Davenport (ankle) on IR.
How Could Injuries Affect 49ers vs Vikings Betting Lines?
Certainly, the matchup to watch in this game will be between Vikings WLB Danielle Hunter, who leads the NFL with eight sacks and 49ers LT Jaylon Moore, who’s starting for Williams. In his 31st NFL game, Moore will be making his sixth start.

If Hunter is able to dominate this matchup and pressure 49ers QB Brock Purdy, it’s likely that he’ll be forced into resorting to short, quick-hitting pass plays. That could make McCaffrey and San Francisco TE George Kittle solid plays in the 49ers vs Vikings player props.
