Our model has this game going in Minnesota’s favor, with the Vikes predicted to win 21.7-16.5 over the Colts. There’s a lot to play for on Minnesota’s end, as a win or tie clinches the NFC North. They’re best at home, rocking a 6-1 record, compared to 4-2 on the road.

The Vikings are the fifth best team in the league, according to Pro Football Focus (6th in both offense and defense). Their counterparts are 26th overall (29th on offense, 13th on D).

SGP Pick #2: Matt Ryan Over 224.5 Passing Yards

While the Colts are 29th on offense, Matt Ryan, in theory, gets a reprieve in his efforts to rack up a lot of yardage against Minnesota. This season, the Vikings have allowed an average of 287.2 passing yards a game, which is worst in the NFL. Ryan has tossed for over that total just twice in the last five games, but his average passing yards in that span is 222. That’s something to consider in the Colts vs Vikings picks.

The three games Ryan hasn’t gone over that total, he threw for 222, 213 and 199 yards respectively, which is close to the total. He should be able to go over that mark, given the pass defense he’s up against.

Despite struggling on the campaign, it has hardly been the fault of the Colts defense. They’ve allowed the eighth fewest yards per game, and have surrendered the third least amount of yards through the air per contest, at just 188.6. Vikings stud wideout Justin Jefferson will get his chunk plays, but here is where the Vikes can lean more on their running attack.

Indy has given up the 12th most rushing yards per game, and Dalvin Cook has the sixth most rushing yards in football. Cook has gone over 74.5 yards on eight occasions this season, and just three teams have surrendered more yards per attempt on the ground the last three weeks than Indy.
