  • The LA Chargers visit the Arizona Cardinals on Monday Night Football
  • James Conner has only gone over 60 rushing yards in one of Arizona’s four losses
  • See a three-leg, +348 Chargers vs Cardinals same-game parlay for MNF

Trying to stay within striking distance of 6-0 Kansas City at the top of the AFC West, the Los Angeles Chargers (3-2, 2-1 away) head to the desert on Monday night to face the Arizona Cardinals (2-4, 1-2 home) at State Farm Stadium at 6:00 pm PT/9:00 pm ET. The Chargers vs Cardinals odds favor LAC by just 1.5 points with the game total set at 44.5, a number the Chargers haven’t exceeded all season. It’s no surprise, then, that my Chargers vs Cardinals same-game parlay starts with an under bet.

Chargers vs Cardinals SGP Pick #1: Under 47.5 Points

The first leg of today’s LAC/ARI same-game parlay is under the alt-total of 47.5 points. While the Cardinals have played in a couple high-scoring games this season (34-28 loss to the Bills in Week 1; 41-10 win over the Rams in Week 2; 42-14 loss to the Commanders in Week 4), they have landed on 47 exactly each of the last two weeks.

But more importantly, not a single Chargers game has even reached 40 points this year. Last week’s 23-16 win at Denver (39 points) was the highest-scoring LAC game so far this season.

Los Angeles pairs a run-heavy offense with a stellar D and one of the league’s best kickers. (Cameron Dicker’s 95% field-goal clip will be the best in league history if he can maintain it until he reaches the necessary 100 attempts to qualify.) I expect a lot of 3s on the board tonight, which makes it borderline impossible to hit 48 points.

LAC vs ARI Same-Game Parlay Pick #2: Chargers Moneyline

I’m also rolling with the Chargers moneyline tonight, largely because I’m a believer in what Jim Harbaugh is building.

The Cardinals have looked a little better than I expected with Kyler Murray finally back healthy. Their 24-23 win at San Francisco was a statement to the rest of the league that this is not the same group that went 4-13 last year (with an ugly -125 point differential).

But the Cardinals are just 1-4 against teams currently over .500. Their other win was a 41-10 thrashing of the injury-riddled Rams.

Harbaugh owns a .688 career win percentage as an NFL head coach and I expect that to tick up even higher tonight. The Chargers are only 15th in the league in DVOA (7.3%) but that’s well ahead of the 21st-ranked Cardinals (-5.3%).

Chargers vs Cardinals SGP Pick #3: James Conner Under 61.5 Rush Yards

The final leg of today’s parlay is James Conner to stay under 61.5 rushing yards. This is a little lower than his season average (67.2 YPG) and way under his average from last year (80.0 YPG). But based on the game script I’m calling for, the under is correlated.

Conner has gone over 61.5 three times this season and stayed under three times. All three of the unders came in losses when the Cardinals were mostly playing from behind and forced to pass. Eric Rosales’ Chargers vs Cardinals player props project most of Arizona’s rush yards to come from Kyler Murray scrambles.

The Chargers have led at halftime in four of their five games and allowed just 21 first-half points all season (4.2 per game).

It certainly doesn’t help the LAC defense that Joey Bosa (hip) is doubtful, but he also missed last week when the Chargers pitched a first-half shutout at Denver. Jim Harbaugh and Jesse Minter have this LA defense functioning at a very high level and that’s going to result in a quiet day for Conner.
