The New England Patriots (2-0, away, ATS, O/U) visit the New York Giants (2-0, home, ATS, O/U) on Thursday night at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ (8:00 pm ET). Neither are seen as a threat in the Super Bowl odds, but both have been dominant during the preseason.
With the Patriots likely sitting their starters in preseason Week 3, what used to be a 2.5-point spread in favor of the Giants has exploded to 6.5.
New England Patriots vs New York Giants Odds
The spread is NYG -6.5 across the board as of Thursday afternoon. The only discrepancy in price is at DraftKings, where the Giants are-108 to cover. All other sportsbooks have -110 odds each way. On the moneyline, the best price on a New York win is -278 at BetMGM. The longest odds on a Patriots victory are +235 at bet365 or DraftKings.
The total ranges from 37.5 to 38.0. FanDuel is the best option for over bettors (O 37.5 at -115 odds). Caesars is the best option for under bettors (U 38.0 at -105 odds).

The NFL public betting percentages show that bettors are hammering the over, putting 84% of game-total handle on the over, along with 89% of the tickets.
How to Watch Patriots vs Giants Tonight
Tonight’s preseason battle is going to be streamed live on Amazon Prime at 8:00 pm ET. Amazon owns the exclusive rights to Thursday Night Football games (from 2023 to 2033).
If you live in the Boston area, it will also be broadcast on WCVB Channel 5. In New York, NBC4 will provide local coverage.
Who’s Starting in Patriots vs Giants?
The Pats, who gave QB1 Drake Maye playing time with the bulk of the first-team offense in Weeks 1 and 2, are not going to rest their starters entirely on Thursday night, which is the main motivation for the massive ATS movement.
That will mean QB2 Joshua Dobbs and QB3 Ben Wooldridge will handle all of the snaps.
Wooldridge was the star of New England’s 48-18 Week 1 win over Washington, throwing for 132 yards and a TD on 9-of-12 passing. Dobbs stole the spotlight in the 20-12 Week 2 win at Minnesota, going 11-for-16 for 106 yards and a TD.
No New England quarterback has thrown an INT in the preseason so far.
All four New York QBs have played in each of the first two preseason games, and all four have played well. QB2 Jaxson Dart has been the MVP of the entire preseason, arguably. The Ole Miss product has piled up 291 yards and two TD passes, going 26-or-35 (74.3%).
QB3 Jameis Winston doesn’t have any TD passes, but has been more than serviceable while getting the second-most snaps. The former Buccaneer/Saint/Brown has gone 13-of-22 for 172 yards and, stunningly for him, no interceptions.
Starter Russell Wilson has played in each of the first two preseason games – going – so it’s not likely he’ll be in the lineup tonight. But head coach Brian Daboll hasn’t made any official announcements on that front.
Patriots vs Giants Picks & Prediction
- Over 37.5 (-115) at FanDuel
I want to lay the points with the Giants after seeing how effective Dart has been, but this spread has grown too large for me to stomach.
Instead, I’m betting the over on the total of 37.5, which basically hasn’t budged since the odds came out last Sunday. It’s no secret that this preseason has been much higher scoring than any other in recent history. Overs are 23-9 through the first two weeks of the preseason (24-9 counting the Hall of Fame Game).
I expect that trend to continue on TNF. The Giants have four quarterbacks who can move the ball, while the Patriots’ trio of pivots have been almost as effective.
While the starters aren’t likely to take the field at all, the reserves should have more of a rhythm by this point.
The New York defense has also been suspect. It surrendered 25 points and 389 yards to a Buffalo team piloted by Mitch Trubisky and Mike White. They held the Jets to 12 points in Week 2, but still allowed 333 yards to a combination of Adrian Martinez and Brady Cook.
The points will continue to pile up for both offenses.
