The Houston Texans (2-3) and Seattle Seahawks (4-2) finish the Week 7 NFL slate with Monday Night Football at 10:00 PM ET on Oct. 20 on an ESPN broadcast. Houston vies for its third win in a row while the Seahawks look to tie the Rams and 49ers at the top of the NFC West.
The Seahawks are home favorites in the MNF odds, and the public expects them to cover the 3-point spread. The betting public is on the side of the over, with two-thirds of the handle coming in on the over.
HOU Texans vs SEA Seahawks Injury Reports
The Texans have escaped major injury as they have just two players ruled out this week and two additional players are questionable. Christian Kirk has played just three games this season, but he has been more of an auxiliary piece as opposed to a load-bearing part of the offense.
Similarly, the questionable Denico Autry will be the third fiddle to the dynamic duo of Danielle Hunter and Will Anderson. The 11-year vet is designated for return from injured reserve. Last season, he played 10 games, recording 3.0 sacks and three tackles for loss.
Both Alijah Huzzie and Jaylen Reed are also designated to return from injured reserve. Huzzie will miss another week, but Reed could play. He would likely be a rotational safety before the duo of Calen Bullock and M.J. Stewart while Jalen Pitre plays in the slot.
The Seahawks have four players listed as “unspecified,” but veterans DeMarcus Lawrence and Leonard Williams are likely to play after missing practice with a “resting” designation. They have an advantageous matchup against one of the worst offensive lines in the NFL in Houston.
For the serious injuries, no Seahawk has been ruled out, but they could have a depleted secondary as both Devon Witherspoon and Julian Love are questionable. Both players are among the 10-15 best at their respective positions, so missing either would be a massive blow to Mike Macdonald’s defense.
If Love or Witherspoon cannot go, expect a heavy dose of rookie Nick Emmanwori and veteran Ty Okada in their places.
Linebacker Derick Hall is also under the “unspecified” tag with an oblique injury. Hall is more of a rotational piece off the edge, but his absence would hurt the Seattle pass rush.
Swing tackle Josh Jones is also on the injury report; he is dealing with an ankle injury. The former Raven offers insurance in case either Charles Cross or Abraham Lucas go down with injury. Seventh-round pick Mason Richman would step in as the third tackle if Jones is inactive.
