Flyers and Capitals Set for More Offensive Fireworks
The Flyers and Capitals conclude a two-game set with a matchup at Capital One Arena on Tuesday. The first game in the series saw an offensive track meet in which the Flyers prevailed by a 7-4 score. We’re likely to see more of the same in the rematch given the firepower on the two teams’ rosters.

Philadelphia and Washington both rank top-10 in league scoring but also rank in the bottom half of the league when it comes to defense. This typically leads to high-event hockey with plenty of scoring chances. In fact, three of the last four meetings between the two clubs have featured at least seven total goals scored.
The Flyers got a big boost on Sunday with the return of Sean Couturier, while Washington’s Alex Ovechkin gave his best performance of the season with two goals and two assists. There’s no reason to expect the goal-scoring to slow down, especially when you consider Philadelphia goaltender Carter Hart and Washington netminder Vitek Vanecek are both sporting a save percentage around .900.
Pick: Over 6.0 (-122)
Wings and Panthers Will Struggle to Find TwineÂ
The Red Wings and Panthers are set to faceoff at BB&T Center on Tuesday after Detroit beat Florida by a 4-1 score on Sunday. The key storyline from the game was the excellent play of Detroit netminder Thomas Greiss, who earned the team’s Player of the Week honors after stopping 65 of 68 shots in two starts (.956 SV%).

A lack of goal-scoring is a common occurrence whenever these two clubs get together. The “under” has cashed in five of the last six meetings and has a strong chance of hitting once again Tuesday. Detroit ranks second-last in the NHL with just two goals scored on average per game, while the Panthers have been limited to just three goals in their last two outings.
Greiss is the primary reason to bet the trend to continue Tuesday, but you should also consider Florida’s goaltending. Chris Driedger is having an excellent start to the season and ranks fifth among all goalies with a .937 save percentage.
The Panthers have the offensive firepower to score a few goals, but the hot play of both goaltenders should ensure the total stays below 5.5. The price of -103 odds is great value as well.
Pick: Under 5.5 (-103)
