All odds as of Jan. 13th

Prop #1: Crosby Lights Lamp Against Flyers

There’s no team that Sid The Kid enjoys scoring on more than Philadelphia. He tallied a goal in two of three games against the Flyers last season.

Over his career, Crosby has lit the lamp 43 times when facing Philly. That’s his highest goal total against any NHL team during his career.

It’s also 10 more than he’s scored on the second team on the list, the New Jersey Devils.

Pick: Sidney Crosby over 0.5 goals (+178), 1 unit

Prop #2: Couturier A Big Shot

In three games against Pittsburgh last season, Philadelphia forward Sean Couturier put nine shots on goal. That works out to three per game.

Over the last two games, though, he delivered seven of those nine shots. That bumps his more recent average up to 3.5 shots per game when facing the Pens.

Couturier was second on the Flyers last year in shots on goal. He put 185 shots on net in 69 games. That works out to 2.68 shots on goal per game.

Pick: Sean Couturier over 2.5 shots on goal (+100), 1 unit

Who Are the Best Bets To Score a Goal?

As noted above, Crosby loves to score against the Flyers. He tallied twice in three games against Philly last season. In the only game he didn’t score, no Pittsburgh player dented the twine. The Pens were shutout 3-0 by the Flyers.

There will be no more emotional story in play on opening night in the NHL than when Oskar Lindblom steps on the ice for his first shift back with the Flyers.

The Swedish forward shared the team lead with 11 goals when he was diagnosed in December with a rare form of bone cancer. He completed his treatments in the summer and is cancer-free.

Lindblom scored the second goal of the season for the Flyers in 2019-20. This season, sentiment says he opens the scoring.

Pick: Oskar Lindblom first goal (+1700), 1 unit
