Formula 1 heads to Montreal this Sunday, June 15th, with the Canadian Grand Prix. The green flag drops at 2:00 pm ET, with live coverage via ESPN.
Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve is a 2.71-mile semi-permanent street circuit that sits on Notre Dame Island in the middle of the St. Lawrence River. This track features 14 turns and combines long straights with heavy braking zones, not to mention the infamous Wall of Champions that’s caught out many greats over the years.
It’s a course that Max Verstappen has absolutely dominated lately with three straight victories. Teams are bringing the softest three tire compounds this weekend, and most drivers should manage a one-stop strategy. Expect fireworks for round 10 of the 2025 championship.
Let’s race into Montreal with some F1 picks and prop bets for Sunday’s Canadian GP showdown.
2025 Canadian Grand Prix Odds
Now at +150 odds, the implied probability for both Oscar Piastri and Max Verstappen comes in at 40%. George Russell sits at 22.22% from pole position. Does the 14-turn course give Russell an edge? Or can Verstappen continue his Montreal dominance in this 70-lap affair

Canadian Grand Prix Picks
People should expect sunny weather during the race with temperatures around 77 degrees greeting the racers Sunday afternoon in Montreal.
Track history tilts heavily toward Max Verstappen with three straight wins here, but George Russell just snatched pole position for Mercedes’ first of 2025. Here’s the kicker though: the same scenario played out last year with Russell starting P1 and Verstappen P2, and we all know how that ended.
The Mercedes camp stunned everyone with Russell’s pole lap as he went 0.025 seconds faster than Verstappen on medium tires. Russell knows he’ll have his hands full keeping the Dutchman behind though, especially since Verstappen’s proven he can win from second at this very track just last year.
Sunday could feature another McLaren podium double if things go as expected, but their pace looked off all weekend. Piastri starts third while Norris sits way back in seventh after a deleted lap time in Q3, which could be the gift Verstappen needs to break McLaren’s recent stranglehold on victories.
When it comes to Montreal, expect Verstappen to deliver once again. Could Russell hold on this time and break the pattern? In Formula 1, anything’s possible, but history suggests otherwise.

- 2025 Canadian Grand Prix Prediction to Win: Max Verstappen (+370 at BetMGM)
2025 Canadian Grand Prix Podium Finish Odds
George Russell Too Consistent to Pass Up
Verstappen had the same starting position last year and found a way around Russell. Montreal offers prime overtaking opportunities at Turn 1 and Turns 10-11, giving the Red Bull driver multiple chances to make his move. Russell’s win odds drifted from +1200 after qualifying, but there’s still value on his podium finish at -210.
The real value might be George Russell holding a podium spot despite pressure from behind. He’s finished on the podium four times this season, matching Verstappen’s total and showing he has pace when everything clicks. Starting from pole gives him track position, and while Verstappen will likely get by, Russell should fend off the McLarens for at least third.
Piastri’s -500 odds seem like a lock given his consistency this year with eight podiums in nine races. As championship leader starting third, he’s right in the mix. Even if Verstappen passes Russell early, Piastri should have the pace to secure another podium finish.
- 2025 Canadian Grand Prix Podium Prediction: George Russell (-210 at BetMGM)
Canadian GP: Second Place Finish Odds
Piastri is Due for Second-Place Finish
Piastri hasn’t finished second all year, either winning or finishing third. Starting P3 with his consistency makes this attractive, especially since he’s shown he can climb through fields. He won from fourth in Miami and second in Saudi Arabia. That +160 feels generous for a driver with eight podiums in nine races who maximizes results.
Think about it this way: if Verstappen wins from P2 as expected, who’s most likely to follow him home? Russell could hang on from pole, but Piastri has the faster car and better race pace all season. The Australian’s been Mr. Consistency in 2025, and this prop offers solid value for what feels like his most probable finishing position given the starting grid.
It truly feels like Piastri’s due for second place. He’s led the championship by either winning or salvaging thirds when things don’t go perfectly. Starting behind the front row with McLaren’s pace advantage over Mercedes sets him up perfectly to split the difference.
- 2025 Canadian Grand Prix Second Place Prediction: Oscar Piastri (+160 at BetMGM)
Other props worth watching include the race winning margin under 6 seconds at -140, which has hit in six of nine races this year. Both McLaren drivers for top 6 finish sits at -700 and is a great parlay play given their reliability all season. And don’t sleep on Ferrari for fastest pitstop at +175, as they’ve been lightning quick in the pits throughout 2025.
