Top-level soccer resumes in Germany this weekend with Bayern Munich seeking to build upon their four-point lead at the top of the table.
The Bundesliga is the first major European soccer competition to begin playing after being suspended on March 12 during the early stage of the coronavirus crisis.
Reigning champions Bayern are the leading goal-scorers with 73 and hit the net no fewer than 15 times in the four matches before the league went into deep freeze.
This explains why Bayern’s trip to face Union Berlin on Sunday at 12:00 pm EST is favored at +400 to be the Bundesliga match with the most goals on the Matchday 26 weekend.

Leipzig’s home clash with Freiburg at 9:30 EST on Saturday is second favorite in this market at +600. Both FC Koln vs Mainz at 9:30 am EST on Sunday and Werder Bremen versus Bayer Leverkusen at 2:30 pm EST on Monday are then priced at +650.
The matches will be played behind closed doors. After a two-month break, there could be surprises and upsets as the players ease their way back into action in the strange surroundings of nearly-empty stadiums.

Lewandoski Ready for Action
However, the suspension has been good for Bayern as it has allowed the Bundesliga’s leading scorer Robert Lewandowski time to recover from an ankle injury.
He has scored 25 goals in 23 Bundesliga appearances this season.
Union Berlin are in 11th place in their first-ever season in Germany’s top-flight.

They conceded 14 goals in their most recent six league games in a run which began with a 5-0 thrashing away at second-placed Borussia Dortmund.
Bayern scored an impressive 36 goals in their 12 road-trip games while conceding only 15.
Borussia Dortmund are the leading goal-scorers at home with 41 goals in their 12 matches at their own HQ.
Meanwhile, Union Berlin have scored 18 times at home and conceded 16.
Borussia Dortmund are the leading goal-scorers at home with 41 goals in their 12 matches at their own HQ. Schalke 04, Sunday’s opponents in the big Ruhr Valley derby, have conceded 18 goals on the road.
With a total of 68 strikes in all, Dortmund may offer the best value in the goals per game market at +700.
Without fans, there will be none of the usual derby atmosphere but this could still be a hotly-contested and free-scoring encounter.

Schalke are in seventh place and will be seeking to maintain their challenge for a Champions League qualifying place.
Against this, they have the worst defensive record in the top eight with a total of 36 goals against. But they are also the lowest goal-scorers in the top ten places with only 33.

Red Bull Leipzig beat Werder Bremen 3-0 and then hammered Schalke 5-0 in February. But in the subsequent two games before play stopped, they drew 1-1 with Bayer Leverkusen and 0-0 with Wolfsburg so the form books says the goal-glut has dried up.
They meet Freiburg at home at 9:30 am EST on Saturday with the visitors’ most recent result a 3-1 win against Union Berlin. However, there were only six goals in their four prior fixtures.

As an outside bet, 14th-placed Augsburg versus Wolfsburg at +1000 looks interesting as both sides had been involved in some free-scoring games before the league’s suspension.
There were 16 goals in Augsburg’s five matches up to the stoppage in a run which included a 5-0 defeat at Eintracht Frankfurt and a 2-3 setback against Borussia Monchengladbach.
Wolfsburg are seventh. There were 28 goals in their eight matches before the break although the most recent result was a 0-0 draw at home against Red Bull Leipzig.
Bayer Leverkusen have scored only 35 times in total which is the least prolific record in the top five.
There were a whopping 31 goals in the eight games played by Bayer Leverkusen most recently.
Their opponents Werder Bremen featured in six games with a total of 17 goals before the stoppage.
Bayer Leverkusen have scored only 35 times in total which is the least prolific record in the top five.
Pick: Borussia Dortmund vs Schalke 04 +700
