The Los Angeles Dodgers will have the lefty Hyun-Jin Ryu on the mountain this Wednesday as they face lefty Tyler Skaggs and the Arizona Diamondbacks. The match starts 9:40 PM ET at Chase Field.
The Dodgers have won 13 of the last 16 games including the first of a three meeting series they will have against the Diamondbacks. Arizona was on a five game winning streak before dropping it to Los Angeles.
Of course, Dodgers and Diamondbacks had a publicized brawl the last time they saw each other, and most people are waiting something to happen this week, once again.
“I don’t think anybody is going to carry anything over,” said Dodgers manager Don Mattingly. “I expect baseball. If something happens, they’ll protect their guys, and we’ll protect our guys. It makes it a lot more to talk about and a little more exciting, but there won’t be a carry-over from us feeling like we have to do something.”
“There’s always justice, but is there resentment?” said Dodgers’ Jerry Hairston. “We feel like if we’re going to have resentment if we’re going to have that type of hate, we’re not going to play our best baseball. We’re finally playing the way we’re capable of playing. That’s our focus.”
Dodgers Hyun-Jin Ryu has a 7-3 record with a 2.82 ERA. He held the Giants to two runs on four hits and three walks with three strikeouts over 6.2 innings Friday. Skaggs, on the other hand, looks to lock down a rotation spot, but he needs another strong performance; he’s 2-1 with a 3.65 ERA.
Arizona has won five of the seven games they have faced vs the Dodgers this season.
