The New York Jets have all kinds of worries about who will be the one throwing the ball this season, but they also have issues about who will be catching it.  Wide receiver Santonio Holmes doesn’t know if he’ll be ready for training camp.

“I’m looking to not have any setbacks by moving too fast. The season doesn’t start until September. Definitely have to take our time and I’ll be ready to go when the bell rings”, Holmes said.

“I don’t have a target date,” Holmes added. “I’m just stating the facts that the season starts soon, and I don’t want to do anything to jeopardize myself for being ready for the season.”

The Jets will open the season against the Tampa Bay Bucs where he should face ex-teammate Darrelle Revis.

Holmes thinks his injury is one of those who can “shut down careers. It’s been getting better,” he said. “We’ve been making great progress every day. That’s all the coaches and trainers are looking for — continue to make great progress and not have any setbacks.”

They are a long shot to win the AFC East division with 12/1 odds; only the Bills have worse chances according to Vegas. New England, of course, is the big favorite to win the division despite the fact that they lost huge offensive pieces.

The Jets have all the odds against them; in fact, they are one of the favorites teams to miss the postseason this year, listed -1600 in the moneyline.
