Of course there are far more than 10, but classifying the Top 10 College Football Rivalries was work enough that it was better not go even further. College football is around the corner, and these are the best College Football Rivalries for 2013.
10. Miami vs Florida State – November 2nd
This rivalry was one of the best in the 80’s but has faded over the last two decades. Florida State is an 8 point favorite for the November clash in 2013.
9. Georgia vs Florida – Saturday November 2nd
Since 1990, Florida has gone 18-4 against Georgia, which puts this rivalry in the last positions because the Gators’ program has grown so much in comparison to the Bulldogs. However, for this season, Georgia is a 4 point favorite in the college football odds – It’s early, but this one could be worth a bet on Florida.
8. Oregon vs Oregon State- Friday November 29th
The Ducks lead the series 59-46-10, and recently have been dominating in the Chip Kelly’s era. In 1983, these two programs offered the last scoreless tie in NCAA Division I football. Oregon is a 16 point favorite however for the 2013 matchup.
7. Utah vs BYU – September 21st
This rivalry goes beyond just sports. It goes into religion territory. 13 of the last 16 games have been decided by a touchdown or less. BYU is 7.5 point favorite for this season matchup.
6. Cal vs Stanford – Saturday November 23rd
Remember when a band entered the field in ongoing matchup? That was in the 1982 Cal vs. Stanford rivalry. You know you’ve seen it. The Cardinal is 22 point favorites over California this season.

You don’t need me to explain why this is a rivalry. Both service academies think the other is soft. Navy is a 9 point favorite in the football odds.
4. USC vs Notre Dame- Saturday October 19th
USC and Notre Dame have combined to win 22 national titles and produce 14 Heisman Trophy winners. The Irish got to the national championship last season, and that set up a better game for 2013 against USC, who wants to be on top again. Notre Dame is a 5 point favorite for 2013.
3. Alabama vs Auburn – Saturday November 30th
You know when ESPN makes a 30 for 30 documentary about the rivalry, well, it is a big deal. “War Eagle” or “Roll Tide”; take your pick. Bama is a 24 point visiting favorite for the matchup this year.
2. Ohio State vs Michigan – Saturday November 30th
Michigan and Ohio State usually decide the Big 10 championship, so it’s a huge prize for the winner and a long summer for the loser. Ohio State is a 6 point favorite for the matchup this season, despite it will be play at Michigan
1. Oklahoma vs Texas- Saturday October 12th
The Red River rivalry is one of the most famous around the US Nation. Texas leads the all-time series 59-42-5, but their programs can’t catch a break since Colt McCoy left. Expect a close game in 2013, as Vegas odds list it as a ‘Pick ‘em’ – as in there is no spread either way.
As some of the most publicized games out there, the big rivalries can often be the easiest to find stats and information to help you make wise betting picks. (Throwing some money down on a rivalry you’re otherwise not invested in can give you a good reason to join the legions of fans and watch the game with great intensity. Any others that should be on this list?
