The Louisville Cardinals and the Cincinnati Bearcats will try to show people their meeting is the best ACC matchup of the weekend as they clash this Saturday at 12 PM ET at Fifth Third Arena, in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Most people think the most attractive ACC matchup of the weekend is Syracuse against Duke, but the 11th ranked against the 7th team in nation sounds just as good.
Louisville has won the last five in a row; they are the 11th best scoring squad in College Basketball averaging 83.0 points per game. Â The Cardinals recently beat the South Florida Bulls 80-54 in their last matchup.
Cincinnati has won 17 of their last 18, only losing to the Southern Methodist Mustangs in that span. The Bearcats are 24-3 in the season, and they manage to win by their defensive skills.
“To do what we want to do, we have to be great defensively,” Bearcats coach Mick Cronin said. “The guys committed to that tonight.”
The Bearcats beat the Cardinals 69-66 in Louisville on January 30th with 28 points by Sean Kilpatrick; however, the Cardinals think the difference in the game was the rebounds.
“We just have to rebound, because they outrebounded us as a team,” redshirt freshman Mangok Mathiangsaid. “Every time we outrebound a team we end up with the victory, and that’s the way we’re going to win this game.”
The Cardinals are 4 point favorite for the rematch despite playing away from home. Consider Louisville is 5-12 SU in its last 17 games when playing on the road against Cincinnati.
