The Minnesota Wild can’t afford another loss in the playoffs series against the Colorado Avalanche; otherwise they will be looking the rest of the NHL postseason from their TV. The Wild and Avalanche meet for game three this Monday at 7 PM ET at the Xcel Energy Center
The series is 2-0 in favor of the Avalanche, with their last win coming on Saturday 4-2 in game two. “That line was on fire tonight,” Avs coach Patrick Roy said. “They were moving the puck really well, skating well.”
Teenager Nathan MacKinnon played one heck of a match and was the game changer for the series. “The skills he’s got, the way he skates — I haven’t seen anything like it,” said Gabe Landeskog.
The Minnesota Wild coach put goalie Ilya Bryzgalov to start game two, but he had problems controlling what the Avalanche brought to the table. When Backup Darcy Kuemper took the ice he looked better and might be the way to go for the rest of the series.
“I’ll have to wait and see, but I hope so. It’s playoff hockey, so you want to play,” Wild coach Mike Yeo said. “(Kuemper) Looked great. … So for him to get in and get that opportunity, it was good.”
The Wild is listed -125 in the money line for game 3; meanwhile the Avalanche is +114. Colorado is 10-7-0 straight up against Minnesota over the last 3 seasons.
