Pick 1: Manchester United vs Arsenal
It’s been an up-and-down start to the campaign for United with their 6-1 home humbling by Tottenham followed by an excellent 4-1 away win in Newcastle, an outstanding 2-1 win in Paris against PSG, and, in midweek, a 5-0 thrashing of a good RB Leipzig side 5-0 in their second UCL game of the campaign. To expect the unexpected has become the mantra for United fans who’ll have enjoyed their team’s European exploits rather more than their domestic form, which sees them a lowly 15th in the PL table.

Arsenal too have been inconsistent with three wins and three defeats in the league leaving them languishing down in 11th. Like United, the Gunners have so far saved their best form for the cups – the League Cup and the Europa League – with three wins out of three, and so will be looking to take some of this form to Old Trafford on Sunday.
All in all, the inconsistency of both teams makes this a hard one to call, but with United still in plus-money and with them starting to perform with a real swagger, the value here is with the home win.
Pick: United to win (+104)
Pick 2: Aston Villa vs Southampton
Villa’s season hit the buffers last Friday when, after a flying start to the campaign, they were surprisingly beaten 3-0 at home by Leeds. Up until that point, it had been wins all the way for Dean Smith’s men, who’ll be desperate to return to winning ways against Southampton, who themselves have made a good start to the new season.

Villa currently have a game in hand on leaders Everton, so know another win will edge them close to the top of the Premier League – an incredible achievement, even at this early stage, after only saving themselves from relegation on the final day of last season. The summer signings of Ross Barkley, on a season-long loan from Chelsea, and Ollie Watkins from Brentford look, at this early stage, to have propelled the Villains to the next level.

Southampton also have a menacing look about them just now, with their win over top-of-the-table Everton last Sunday taking them up to seventh. Their only serious hiccup so far has been a disappointing 5-2 home defeat by Spurs but they bounced back well and Ralf Hasshuttl’s team looks a very solid, accomplished outfit. So much so I believe they can pick up points here, possibly all three. But, for me, on balance, with two in-form sides possibly canceling each other out, the value is with the draw.
Pick: Villa and Southampton to draw (+260)
Pick 3: Burnley vs Chelsea
Chelsea head into this one off the back of two consecutive draws in the EPL, although they did return to winning ways on Tuesday night with a fine 4-0 win in Russia against Krasnodar in the Europa League. This win should give Frank Lampard’s squad a timely boost after a slow start to the campaign. They currently lie in tenth place with a record of two wins, three draws, and one defeat, and although their season is yet to ignite there have been promising signs from summer signing Timo Werner.

18th placed Burnley are yet to win in the league this season but were unlucky not to grab a point last Sunday against Tottenham who relied on a late winner from Son Heung-min. As ever, Sean Dyche’s teams are well organized and combative and with the Chelsea confidence a little fragile – at least in the EPL – there could be something here for the Clarets on home turf.
While for some it may look a speculative long shot, an early goal here for Burnley and I can see them going on to get their first EPL win of the season.
Pick: Burnley to win (+525)
