- A series of prop bets have been issued based upon Winston’s statistical performance. See odds and analysis below
Will Jameis Winston prove to be this year’s Teddy Bridgewater for the New Orleans Saints? Last season, when Saints quarterback Drew Brees went down with a thumb injury, Bridgewater stepped in to go 5-0 at the helm of the club.
Brees suffered a chest injury in last Sunday’s game against the San Francisco 49ers. Winston, the former Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB, will get the start this Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons. New Orleans are 5-point favorites in the game.
A series of prop wagers have been put forth based on the kind of numbers Winston will produce in this week’s game. Total wagers are available on his output for touchdown passes, passing yards, and interceptions.

Winston An Expert Falconer
One thing to keep in mind is that Sunday’s game is against the Falcons, an NFC South rival. Winston has spent his entire career in the NFC South. The numbers show his faring quite well when it comes to hunting Falcons.
Sunday will be his 10th start against Atlanta. Winston is 4-5 against them, but the props aren’t asking if he’ll win.
Jameis Winston has 121 career passing touchdowns.
Jameis Winston has 25 of those touchdowns against the Atlanta Falcons (21%).

Personally speaking, Winston has been dominating when facing the Falcons. He’s thrown more touchdown passes against Atlanta (25) than any other team.
His average passer rating in his last seven games against Atlanta is 112.3. In those games, he’s thrown for 23 TDs. Winston has never tossed for fewer than two scores in each game. Six of those games saw him going over three TDs. Three times, he ended up finishing with four TD passes.
Overall, he’s averaged 1.63 TD passes per game in his NFL career. Last season, he averaged 2.06.
Pick: Over 1.5 TD passes (-130)
Winston vs Brees
One element that Winston could add to the New Orleans offense that certainly appears to be fading from Brees’ repertoire is the deep ball. Winston targeted wideout Michael Thomas five times among the 10 passes he attempted after replacing Brees last week.
According to PFF, Winston owns the best average depth of target among NFL QBs since 2019. He’s good for 10.9 yards per pass over that span. Brees rates 32nd in the league at 6.5 yards.

Winston’s 5,109 passing yards led the NFL in 2019. That’s an average of 319.3 yards per game. He went over 235.5 yards in 12 of 16 games, including a 313-yard performance against the Falcons.
Against Atlanta, his career average is 277.6 ypg. Winston’s career average is 267.7. Atlanta is 31st in the NFL at defending the pass (310.3 ypg).
Pick: Over 235.5 yards passing (-140)
Saints Preserve This
New Orleans head coach Sean Payton was one of the keys why the Saints kept winning last season with Bridgewater at the helm. They devised a gameplan that fit perfectly with the strengths of Bridgewater’s game.
Two elements are proving to be prominent during Winston’s career trajectory. He’s capable of delivering astonishing passing plays. And he’s displayed a penchant for the game-losing interception.

In his last four games against Atlanta, Winston was picked off seven times. He’s been intercepted at least twice in 10 of his last 14 starts.
Winston threw a league-high 30 interceptions last season. That works out to an interception percentage of 4.8, well above his career average of 3.4.
Pick: Over 1.5 interceptions (-150)
