Prop #1: Total Points By Steelers Over 21.5

We’re seeing a huge overreaction here with the Steelers. Yes, they are struggling and it’s true that they’ve failed to hit the 20-point mark in any of their last four games. At the same time, let’s not forget that a big reason for that has been self-inflicted wounds and they’ve played some good teams.

They’ve got another tough defense in front of them on Sunday but the Steelers should be able to score at least 22 points. They scored 17 last week with three turnovers and 15 at Buffalo when they had two more.

What’s interesting to note is that the Steelers have had a really tough time on third downs of late but the Colts defense struggles in that regard. While the Colts defense is ranked seventh overall, they are 21st in getting off the field on third down. That should help the Steelers get some momentum on their drives and produce some points.

Prop #2: Chase Claypool Anytime Touchdown

Another area where this otherwise excellent Colts defense struggles is through the air. They give up 7.5 yards-per-attempt, which is 24th in the NFL. They’ve dominated bad teams and struggled with good ones as the Tennessee Titans scored 45, the Green Bay Packers scored 31 and the Cleveland Browns scored 32.

Chase Claypool has been quiet for weeks now but expect a good game out of him. With so many of the other Steelers receivers struggling with drops, look for the Steelers to make Claypool a big part of the game plan.

Prop #3: Steelers -2.5 (+123)

There’s no question that the Steelers are in a slump. They’ve lost three in a row and Monday’s outing was particularly embarrassing when they lost to the two-win Cincinnati Bengals. However, the Steelers have a tendency of playing to the level of their competition.

The other concern here is that the Colts have mostly beat up on teams with a losing record this season. Of their 10 wins on the year, their only victories against teams with a winning record were the Green Bay Packers in a narrow overtime escape and the Tennessee Titans, who stomped them in the rematch.

It feels like the Colts are being overrated here and the Steelers are being underrated. Had the Steelers just sprinkled around their three losses rather than stringing them together, they’d probably be about a -1.5 to -2.5 favorite in this spot. After all, they are 6-1 at home this year. Take a shot with the alternate line and lay a small number with the Steelers.
