Red-hot Cleveland visits Kansas City for two-game series

In 2013 the Cleveland Indians were wondering weather Lonnie Chisenhall would ever blossom into the Major League Baseball player they had predicted.

A year later Chisenhall is on fire hitting .474 with five homers and 22 RBIs over his last 10 games. He’s also hitting .421 since May 18. Helping out that average was last night’s once-in-a-lifetime game against Texas when he went 5-5 in the Indians 17-7 clobbering of the Rangers.

Speaking about Chisenhall, Jason Kipnis said, “He’s attacking the ball right now, and he’s swinging at the right pitches and he’s learning about himself as a hitter. Right now, he’s in one of those zones when he attacks and he’s just not missing.”

The hot Tribe, which is 30-33 ATS this season, travels to Kansas City, which didn’t play on Monday due to rain.

Royals Manager Ned Yost said, “When you’re playing well, you don’t like rainouts.” The rainout coupled with the Indians win moved the Tribe ahead of Kansas City in the American League Central standings.

Over the last 10 games, the Royals are an impressive 6-4, while the Indians are 9-1. One factor to keep an eye on is Cleveland’s money line performance at 8-2 during that same stretch. Look for Corey Kluber (6-3, 3.23) and Jason Vargas (5-2, 3.28) to battle, with Cleveland finally learning how to play ball away from Progressive Field.
