- Week 5 of the NFL season got underway with Thursday’s Los Angeles Rams-Seattle Seahawks game
- Which betting line has moved the most since opening? What’s the smallest spread of the week?
- All of the wagering information on every NFL game is listed below
While studying the line movement as the NFL teed it up for Week 5 of the regular season, there were certainly some surprising moments to look back on from Week 4.
Which was more amazing about last week’s NFL outcomes – that the Arizona Cardinals are left standing as the league’s lone unbeaten squad, or that the New York Giants and New York Jets both won a game during the same week?
The Jets were so certain that the NFL would make them give back their victory over the Tennessee Titans that they fled the country before it could happen. Well, that’s not entirely true. It was always on the schedule that the Jets and Atlanta Falcons would play this week at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, England.
Speaking of the schedule, which games are looking to be the biggest movers and shakers in NFL Week 5 line movement?
Let’s look at that. First, though, check out the latest NFL odds for Week 5.

Cousins A Lions Tamer
The Minnesota Vikings opened as 7.5-point home favorites over the Detroit Lions. That line grew to Minnesota -9.5.
The Lions are a dismal 0-4 this season but 2-2 against the spread. However, Detroit is 0-2 ATS on the road. The Lions have dropped their two away games by a combined total of 28 points.
Kirk Cousins in 7 career games against the Lions:
124.6 Passer Rating
1,923 yards (247.7 per game)
16 touchdowns
1 interceptionHe'll be ranked by me as a QB1 this week and in a good amount of my DFS lineups

Add to that the fact that center Frank Ragnow and tackler Taylor Decker, 40% of Detroit’s starting offensive line, are out. Cornerback Jeff Okudah and edge rusher Romeo Okwara are out as well.
Kirk Cousins is 6-0 against Detroit as QB of the Vikings.
Cardinals Rule Over The NFL
Not only is Arizona the #1 team in the NFL in terms of record, the Cardinals are also the most potent point producers in the league. Arizona has scored at least 30 points in all four games this season. The Cards lead the league in scoring offense at 35.0 points per game.
There was plenty of movement among NFL totals during the lead up to Week 5 games. The total on the Cleveland Browns-Los Angeles Chargers game grew by three points to 49.5. The over/under for the Baltimore Ravens-Indianapolis Colts game shrunk three points to 45.5.
Thru 4 games the @AZCardinals have:

i140 points – second-most in team history thru 4 games (148 in 2015) pic.twitter.com/l856qzympX

None, though, changed as much as the Cardinals-San Francisco 49ers total. It opened at 53.5 but now sits at an even 50 points. This even though the Niners are the NFL’s #7 scoring offense (28.6 ppg).
The dip likely has to do with how well the Cardinals’ defense is performing this season. Arizona is the #3 scoring defense in the NFC (21.3 ppg).
Last Chance For Steelers?
If the Pittsburgh Steelers are going to salvage their 2021 campaign, a win this week at home against the Denver Broncos is a must have. Perhaps that explains why the 1-3 Steelers are given a slight 1.5-point home edge over the 3-1 Broncos.

Factor in the loss of Denver QB Teddy Bridgewater to a concussion, leaving Drew Lock to deal with the Steelers’ defense, and the line makes even more sense. Still, having faith that a Pittsburgh team that is last in the NFL in rushing and has a seemingly end-of-the-road Ben Roethlisberger under center probably explains why this is the smallest spread of the week.
Tua Tags Out
The all-Florida showdown between the Miami Dolphins and Tampa Bay Buccaneers lost much of its luster when Dolphins’ QB Tua Tagovailoa was lost last week to a rib injury. At 1-3, the promise of last season’s near playoff appearance is rapidly vanishing in South Beach.
Buccaneers get a big break with their schedule while dealing with all these injuries in the secondary. Dolphins, Eagles, and Bears.
Tom Brady and the offense need to be lights out. The pass rush has got to step up as well and make it easier on Richard Sherman and co

Over in Tampa Bay, now that QB Tom Brady has survived his emotional return to Foxboro with a win over the New England Patriots, he figures to let out a huge sigh of relief. And then a relaxed Brady and deep Buccaneers club should dismantle the Dolphins. This is the only double-digit line of the week at Bucs -10.
How Low They Can Go
The Steelers-Broncos game and the Patriots-Houston Texans tilts share the lowest total of the week. Each game’s over/under is listed at 39.5 points.

Issues in the Steelers-Broncos game were covered above. As for the Patriots-Texans, both are starting rookie QBs — Mac Jones for New England and Davis Mills for Houston.
Bills, Chiefs Adding Up Big
The teams tied for #2 in scoring offense in the NFL will clash Sunday night at Arrowhead Stadium. A rematch of last season’s AFC Championship game pits the Buffalo Bills (33.5 ppg) and Kansas City Chiefs (33.5 ppg) against each other.

Buffalo is the NFL’s #1 scoring defense (11.0 ppg) as well. KC, on the other hand, is the #31 scoring defense (31.3 ppg).
The total on this game opened at 56.5 points and it has stayed there, making it easily the largest of Week 5.
