Knicks vs Nets Predictions, Spread & Odds (Nov. 9)
- Brooklyn is laying 2.5 points at home in the Knicks vs Nets odds on Wednesday (Nov. 9)
- Kyrie Irving will serve the fourth game of his five game suspension
- The latest Knicks vs Nets predictions and odds are listed below, along with injury news
This time last year the Brooklyn Nets (4-7, 2-4 home) were considered the championship frontrunner. 12 months later, and they’re significantly closer to the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings than the top.
Only three teams in the East have fewer victories than Brooklyn so far, but that didn’t stop oddsmakers from pegging them as home chalk on Wednesday versus the Knicks in the NBA odds. The Nets enter play losers of six of their past nine games, while New York has won two of their past three coming in.

Brooklyn Nets Betting Analysis
Despite their disappointing 4-7 record, the Nets are still top-six contenders in the NBA Championship odds. That price is almost entirely a reflection of just how good Kevin Durant is, as he’s receiving little support from his supporting cast.

Durant is averaging 31 points, six rebounds and five assists per night, while no other Brooklyn player aside from Kyrie Irving is averaging more than 12 points. Speaking of Irving, he’ll serve the fourth game of his team imposed five-game suspension on Wednesday, but hasn’t exactly looked invested when he has been on the court.
On a more positive note, the Nets did welcome back Ben Simmons to the lineup on Monday, after he missed four games with knee soreness. Simmons played just 16 minutes off the bench in a 96-94 loss in Dallas, registering 2 points, three boards and two assists. The former number one pick has yet to reach double figures in scoring this season, but can be a valuable rebounder and distributor once he works his way back into shape.

Brooklyn had no answer for Luka Doncic in Monday’s loss, as he poured in 36 points on his own, while the Mavs shot 43% from beyond the arc. Defense has been an issue for the Nets all season, as they rank 22nd in defensive rating and are second worst team at defending the three-point line.
On the injury front, Yuta Watanabe is out with an ankle injury, while T.J. Warren remains out as he recovers from a foot injury.
New York Knicks Betting Analysis
New York meanwhile, enters play fresh off a 120-107 victory in Minnesota. One game after allowing the most three-pointers ever in franchise history, the Knicks splashed a team-record 10 treys in the opening quarter to help build a lead they would not relinquish.

Julius Randle led the way with a season-high 31 points, including eight triples, while Jalen Brunson splashed 23 points and RJ Barrett poured in 22. New York shot just 44% from the field, but made eight more threes than Minnesota and grabbed five more offensive boards.
The Knicks enter play ranked 10th in points per game, but below league average in field goal percentage. Their points totals have been propped up by a plethora of second chance opportunities, as only three teams pull down more offensive rebounds per night.
New York has a mouthwatering matchup on the glass on Wednesday, as the Nets rank 29th in total rebounding, and dead last on their own glass.
Injury update for tomorrow’s game.
Questionable:

Mitchell Robinson (Sprained right knee) pic.twitter.com/QSvPQgv2J5— NEW YORK KNICKS (@nyknicks) November 8, 2022
On the injury front, starting center Mitchell Robinson (knee) will miss his third straight game, while guard Quentin Grimes is questionable with a foot injury.
Knicks vs Nets Betting Analysis
With Irving out, and Simmons working his way back into shape, it really is KD against the world for the Nets. Sure, they’ll most likely get 10-15 points from one of Nic Claxton or Royce O’Neale, but this roster in its current form is not very good.
They’re a mess in their own end, and they struggle to defend the three, which as we just witnessed on Monday are two of the Knicks’ biggest strengths.
As of Tuesday night, 50% of the moneyline tickets and 61% of the moneyline handle is backing an outright upset victory for New York. I’m inclined to agree as the Nets have beaten just one team with a record better than New York’s all season.
