Saturday’s contest between the Clippers (29-26, 15-15 away) and Knicks (28-25, 13-14 home) features perennial All-Stars, multi-time All-Stars, and All-Star snubs.
Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, who boast 13 All-Star selections between them, take on Julius Randle, recently named to his second All-Star Game, and potentially Jalen Brunson who was arguably this year’s biggest All-Star snub.
Brunson’s status is currently up in the air as he battles an illness, but his omission from the All-Star Game left many around the league up in arms.

The Clippers are currently favored by 2.5 points, in a game with a total of 223.5. Tip-off is scheduled for 7pm ET at Madison Square Garden in New York, and will mark the first meeting between these two teams this season.
LA Clippers Betting Analysis
LAC enters play winners of six of their past eight outings. They’re fresh off a 106-105 loss at the Bucks, one of the top contenders in the NBA Championship odds. The Clippers offense has been hot and cold during this latest stretch, but one thing that has remained consistent is their play in their own end.
LA has held its opponents to an average of 108 points per game over its last seven contests, and sit eighth overall in defensive rating. When everything’s clicking, the Clippers’ offense is as good as it gets thanks to Leonard and PG-13. The problem is when they have an off night, there’s not enough scoring depth on the roster to overcome it.

Their last game versus Milwaukee is a prime example. Kawhi and George combined for just 33 points and shot a dismal 31% from the field. They got only 38 points from their bench, while the rest of the starting five produced a mere 36 points. You’re not going to win many games in the NBA this year with an offense like that, especially against one of the league’s top teams.
Fortunately for them, the Knicks present an uncharacteristically good matchup for enemy offenses this season.
New York Knicks Betting Analysis
New York has been especially poor in its own end recently. Over the last 10 games they’ve surrendered at least 122 points five times and rank 28th in defensive rating over that stretch.
Their offense has performed well lately to help compensate for their lackluster defense, but it will be a huge blow if Brunson has to sit again. The 26-year-old was scratched prior to the Knicks last game and is officially listed as questionable for Saturday.
He’s averaged north of 31 points over his last three outings, and is fresh off a January where he produced 28.7 points per night.

In his absence, the Clippers can expect a heavy dose of Randle and R.J. Barrett. The other two members of New York’s mid-three account for 39% of the Knicks’ offense. Barrett is coming off a 30-point effort in a 106-104 victory versus Miami, while Randle put up a ho-hum 23-point, 10-rebound, 6-assist effort.

New York is 2-2 without Brunson this season, averaging 112 points per contest. That’s three full points less than when he’s in the lineup, and two of the games he missed were against the Rockets and Spurs, a pair of NBA bottom-feeders.

Needless to say, the Knicks will definitely need his services against LAC’s stingy defense. If Brunson sits, the under is an exceptional play in this game, but even if he plays there’s still merit to betting that side of the total.
